Battle Mage Secrets: A battle Above the Sky

Hello everyone, This is @cantfoldaces participating in the Weekly Battle Mage Secrets Challenge, in the best #play2earn game out there!! #Splinterlands!!

This is my 2nd Participation for this week's challenge and oh boy I'm having fun writing about one of the controversial, loved and hated at the same time Ruleset! This time I've got a pretty interesting and close gameplay that lasted for 9 Rounds to conclude the winner of the battle so let's get strating!

Earthquake

  • All non-flying units take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn
  • Snared units are considered non-flying
  • Earthquake damage is considered physical: Monsters with Shield will take 1 Damage.

Let's shed a little light on some of the notable Summoners on the Wild Format, Earlier before the Format Split, it was a notable Summoner that Almost could garantee you the win and that's the Dragon Summoner, Brighton Bloom

As you can see, this summoner grants the Flying ability to All Allied monsters making the Ruleset non existant for these monsters! On the other side, a least popular Summoner that can be used as a counter is Vera Salicia, that gives Allied Monsters the Snare Ability thus become vulnerable to the Earthquake Rounds

Back to Modern, Summoners that offers additional Armor to Allied Monsters have an edge on the rest of the Summoner since the Armor absorbs the earthquake Damage: Lux Vega, the neutral element, Franz Ruffmane and GrandMaster Rathe, the Life Element Summoners, and Kelya Frendul the Water Summoner!

Without further ado, let's get rolling:

  • MAX Mana Available
  • Only Earth + Life Elements available
  • Spreading Fury + Earthquake Rulesets

My pick will obviously go for the Life Team :

Summoner

Abilities: Void Armor + +1 Armor + Amlify

As I mentionned earlier, having that extra Armor is beneficial for the survival of my monsters especially in the early rounds, Void Armor will provide the needed protection against Magic Spam in case I was facing against the Earth Team. I wouldn't be relying on the Amplify Ability

1st Position

Ability: Flying + Recharge + Heal

A Giga Chad Tank and is most needed in situations of Earthquake or Noxious Fumes mainly because of the Flying ability, insane Health bar and the self sustain with the Heal Ability!
Recharge will allow to launch a deadly attack in case faced with a Beefy Tank like Bera Dallin or a mirror Uriel Matchup!

3rd Position

Ability: Flying + Close Range + Deathblow

Another Damage Oriented Monster that can take the place of a Secondary Tank Due to the Close Range Ability.
Deathblow comes in handy if one Beefy Tank is left after multiple rounds of Earthquake and it needs lots of damage to take it down as it deals double damage to the last standing monster.

2nd Position

Ability: Martyr
This monster is used to buff both Uriel The Purifier & Gargoya Devil with the Martyr Ability since it's be used as a sacrificial by taking the continuous Earthquake damage.

4th Position

Ability: Taunt + Void
This monster got an insane Tankiness againt Magic thanks to the Void Ability and either can Tank all type of Damage because of the huge 12 Health. it's only lacking some sort of healing to be broken but afraid not,
at Level 3, it gets the Martyr Ability and can do wonders with some wombo combos!

5th Position

Ability: Flying + Repair + Ressurect

The awesome support Card combined with Flying that assure its survival in Earthquake rounds. It things goes well, I would like the Ressurect to be ablied on the Venari Marksrat to benefit TWICE from the Martyr ability otherwise it'll be most likely used on my Taunt Iziar.
Repair is key to help with Uriel Sustain in Armor to reduce the pressure on its health bar!

6th Position

Ability: Flying + Shatter

Flying is optimal as I need this monster to survive as long as possible for its Utility. The combination of High Speed + Shatter ability is Huge by being the first to act and Shatter the enemy's armor before the my Carry monsters start firing their shots

Pre Round 1

Man both Teams look strong as hell and the battle promises to be so close that its hard to decide the winner of this battle. Unfortunately I've gotta get past Bera Dallin before conisdering hunting the other enemy monsters!

Round 1


Nothing mcu happening on the first Round as both Taunt Monsters are exchanging blows and neither of them dropped below 50% of their Health. Onto the Earthquake round!

Round 2

  • After exchanging many blows, Iziar was the first to fall against the War Pegasus hit which unfortunately let to the Ressurect to proc on Izizar to be revived again with 1 Health + 1 Armor.
  • Meanwhile my team keeps on damagin Bera Darin and Uriel recharged attack took down Silverblade massive Armor
  • Bera health dropped down to 3 HP while Uriel became Enraged and goes on recharge mode.
  • The battle still tight as ever!

Round 3 + 4

  • Earthquake finishes up Iziar and left the Venari with a single health while an enraged Bera is left with 2 Health! Luckily it misses its shot on Uriel.
  • A great shot from Gargoya that took down Bera Dallin! But dayum it got ressurected with 7 Armor !
  • The rest of the 3rd round is misses here and out on Uriel
  • The 3rd round of Earthquake finally destroyed the Venari and we got a buffed Uriel and Gargoya ready to fire !
  • First from Uriel with a Massive 18 Damage shot on Silverblade that went down!
  • Uriel holding out pretty well against all attacks and the repair helps a ton!
  • Let's go ! Bera is left with a single health !

Round 5

  • Bera is OUT after the earthquake round!
  • Now comes Adelaide Turn that was left with only 1 Health!

Round 6 + 7

  • That recharge attack was wasted on a 1 Health Adelaide
  • After getting Uriel Armor destroyed, it got hit by its mirror opponent with the recharge attack and got ONE-SHOT. Now it smells trouble !
  • Gargoya Devil is unexpectedly holding on pretty well and the repair came at the right time!
  • It's 3 Vs 3 and the battle is slightly leaning of opponents favor!

Round 8

  • Thanks to being Enraged and having a speed advantage, Gargoya was able to take down Uriel before it has the chance to launch its recharged attack!
  • But soon Gargoya got eliminated as well
  • Now we are 2V2

Round 9 : The end

  • The Major weakness of Ranged is the inability to fire from 1st position and that was the case for the enemy team despite having the advantage:
  • Earthquake took down commander Goff and left was Pegasus on the 1st spot which led to be killed by the continuous attack from Adelaide & my Pegasus.
    => Ouch Finally I could've clinch the VICTORY after so many tedious rounds and get myself rewarded with 0.65 SPS + 23 Trophies

After Battle Commentary

  • Honestly it was really fun the watch the battle! Aside from the profits and SPS gains, these kind of battles are what makes Splinterlands such an awesome game and rewards the strategic side of the Team Selection!
  • Facing Immortalis could've been a paid because of the Magic Counter and all the shatter that hinders the repair and the advantage of Void Armor!
