Arte africano y su historia en Caracas

Florecido año queridos Hivers, para alguien que, como yo, acostumbra esconderse en navidad por no soportar estos días festivos y melancólicos, y recién aparece en enero para reencontrarse con la vida, hoy comienza el año 2023 para mi. Comenzó ayer, pero tenía una cita con mi novio, así que esta publicación tuvo que correrse para hoy. Feliz año queridos amigos!!

En el Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas está abierta al público la increíble exposición de arte africano en una de sus salas, pero esta exposición no está abierta para exponer las obras artísticas o utilitarias de la cultura africana, sino para sentar un precedente de las acciones mundiales (europeas) que apuntaron a saquear las riquezas de este oscuro continente.

In the Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas is open to the public the incredible exhibition of African art in one of its rooms, but this exhibition is not open to expose the artistic or utilitarian works of African culture, but to set a precedent of the world (European) actions that aimed to plunder the riches of this dark continent.

Esta exposición también presentan una muestra de las barbaries a las que fue sometido estos pueblos ancestrales y tan ricos en historia y cultura. Lo que nos propina una sonora bofetada a toda la especie, a los que incurrieron en los hechos y a los que quedamos callados ante tal atrocidad. Niños mutilados, personas esclavizadas.

Los museos deben ser lugares para la reflexión, no solo para el lúdico juego del disfrute de formas y colores. Sino lugares para la indagación cultural e histórica, lugares para repensar nuestro tiempo y dar forma a un mundo aún en borradores.

This exhibition also presents a sample of the barbarities to which these ancestral peoples, so rich in history and culture, were subjected. Museums should be places for reflection, not only for the playful game of enjoying shapes and colors. But places for cultural and historical inquiry, places to rethink our time and shape a world still in drafts.

Hoy he querido hablar no solo del arte, también sobre aquello de lo que habla el arte, o mejor, lo que se encuentra detrás del arte. O dicho de otra manera, lo que el arte tarda décadas y siglos en expresar, no porque no lo diga o no lo exprese, sino porque estamos tan saturados de nuestras vidas que no dejamos espacio para la observación y entendimiento del mundo.

El arte expresa conceptos, luchas, ideas. Es nuestro deber como humanos pensantes y sensibles abrir un espacio a la observación, estoy segura que funciona, el pueblo Griego antiguo creó así la filosofía y nos regaló conceptos que están presentes hoy en día, y que además son útiles para entender hasta el universo, no solo el mundo.

Today I wanted to talk not only about art, but also about what art talks about, or rather, what is behind art. Or to put it another way, what art takes decades and centuries to express, not because it doesn't say it or doesn't express it, but because we are so saturated with our lives that we leave no room for observation and understanding of the world.

Art expresses concepts, struggles, ideas. It is our duty as thinking and sensitive humans to open a space for observation, I am sure it works, the Greek people created philosophy and gave us concepts that are present today, and are also useful to understand even the universe, not just the world.

Si observamos, por ejemplo las máscaras rituales de la cultura africana podemos intuir a un pueblo que estuvo en contacto con la grandeza, pero la historia los superó y su tecnología quedó en artesanía, por lo que se vieron sin las armas necesarias para defenderse de los invasores, entonces buscan la protección en ritos y símbolos del pasado glorioso.
