Greetings Hive friends!!! Today I am extremely mind blown by this series that I just finished watching, so much so that I couldn't wait to share it with everyone! First I will talk about the technical aspect, and for this I will ask Filmaffinity for help:

TV series. Science fiction. Thriller. Intrigue. Drama || Work/employment. Psychological drama || Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a surgical procedure that separates their memories between their work and personal lives. This bold experiment in "work-life balance" is called into question when Mark finds himself at the center of a mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work...and himself.

Is a 2022 series directed by Ben Stiller, and here began the surprises, because this series moves away from any product that we could relate to this comedy actor, presents us with a clean series and with a vintage aesthetic, which at the same time we could say that takes place in the future, or maybe not, I do not remember. It has excellent actors like Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Christopher Walken who offer a very good performance capable of keeping us hooked and unable to sleep until having completed the first season in one night.

Patricia Arquette shows her acting skills in a very good way, actually all the actors shine here, we see the transition between the two versions of themselves, the change is patent and it is incredible. The story and screenplay is in charge of Mohamad el Masri, Dan Erickson, Andrew Colville, who brings us an original and very daring story in its premise, with unexpected twists and an atmosphere of unbeatable intrigue.

The aesthetics are also separated, half of the action takes place in the secret basement facilities of Lumon Industries, with all the decor and vintage-inspired technology, reminiscent of the old computers of the 80's, but when the characters reach the outside everything changes and they are again located in our time.

The characters do not notice this change, because as the synopsis says they do not remember any of the two realities they live in every day. I tell you this and do not take it as a spoiler, because nothing is what it seems and the plot twists and the tension to which the characters are subjected is the greatest virtue that brings us the script of the series. A rounded script that leaves nothing to chance and keeps us glued and sleepless until the end of the 9 chapters of approximately 40 minutes each.

The series plays with nostalgia, not only for its setting, but also for the faces of the actors. They all look familiar. John Turturro who we remember fondly for his characters to whom he gives such a tender side, even if he is evil, Adam Scott who although I try (and I have already reviewed his filmography) I still do not remember where I have seen him; the fabulous Patricia Arquette who has always excelled in her performances and, although I feel I had never seen her before, she reminds me a lot of Diane Lane, because of her face.

If you love well-structured scripts, suspense, intrigue and science fiction you have to watch this series. Although it does not offer many clues about the technology used to achieve the mission of this industry, the truth is that it is not necessary, because it deposits all the arsenal in the performances and its excellent script.

The end of the series is masterful, leaving us with the feeling of needing to close the story, to understand the fate of Mark and Helly and the others. To see where this story will end, fortunately the second season has already been confirmed, the bad news is that it will premiere in 2023.

It is really the first time I know that Ben Stiller is the director of any production, but in this series he does a very good job, all the resources were used with astuteness and very cleverly, it was about time he changed his job, because he was no longer funny.

Recently saw this show "Severance" and thought it was absolutely amazing. Riveting from beginning to end with interesting characters and concepts. Can't wait for the next season. The first season was astoundingly addicting. Great post!
