Botel is a hotel on a boat.

In this post I decided not to write too much & post more photos than text & hope that my shots will tell the story instead of written words.

Also I decided to tag #urbanexploration cause I really did explored urban areas of my new neighborhood in Rijeka, Croatia. I made all the photos here on Tuesday, except the last two which I took on Wednesday & I planned to make this post on Wednesday but I had so much work to do that I didn't make it - that's why I used the #wednesdaywalk tag too.

The Pyramid

This area of the town is called "Piramida" cause of this monument which really looks like a pyramid. In the time of Austrian rule over Croatian lands, some Austrian queen ordered road construction which would connect Rijeka with Karlovac. I'm not sure but maybe this pyramid marks the beginning of this road. There is another similar monument further the road in the hills, approximately 20 km North-East towards Karlovac.

In Croatian rijeka means river - that is the meaning of the name of the city - Rijeka. The river that passes through Rijeka is called Rječina - which would mean something like big river.

Golden Courage

This is a monument to a peaceful guy who was attacked & thrown into the cold river & unfortunately drowned exactly here by some hooligan-criminal, so the people & city government decided to create a monument in his remembrance cause he was well know in the city by his kindness & non-violence. It is written: "courage is choosing nonviolence"

This kind of photo-walks I will definitely continue doing in the future cause there are so many different cityscapes here that I feel like only now discovering...
