Coffee with milk and bread—a delicious memory from my childhood. (ENG-ESP)

Greetings, beautiful community! I hope you are all doing very well. đŸ€—

They say that in Venezuela, every child is born with an arepa under their arm. It’s a very popular saying because, in our country, the arepa is truly a staple; you can eat it at any time of day and fill it with whatever you like best. We love the arepa, and it represents us proudly wherever we go. 💕

But bread isn't far behind. I can say without a doubt that it’s very hard for a bakery to fail in my country; as long as there is fresh, warm bread, there will be people wanting to buy it—whether in the morning for breakfast or in the afternoon for a snack or dinner.

Mom usually gave us arepas for breakfast, but when there weren't any, or it was getting too late to make a more elaborate meal, she would turn to bread. Back then, she would buy a big bag of French bread—it held about 20 rolls—and the younger kids would eat one while the older ones ate two.

But that bread didn't come alone; our mother made the most delicious, sweet, and frothy cafĂ© con leche (coffee with milk) I have ever tasted in my life. đŸ€€ I miss that flavor so much!

I remember enjoying my cafĂ© con leche in a plastic mug back then—I was about 6 or 7 years old. It was so delicious to dip the bread into the coffee and then pop it right into my mouth—oh my goodness, it was so tasty!

Today, I treated myself. I don't usually buy bread from the bakery for health reasons, but I had wanted to relive that moment for so long that I didn't think twice. I bought my favorite bread, turned on the electric coffee maker, and set out to make the coffee just the way Mom used to. Well, it didn't turn out exactly the same—hers was tastier—but I did manage to get it frothy and moderately sweet.

Oh, my! I poured myself a cup of coffee and got a piece of bread—buttered, of course—and settled in to enjoy this treat that so often saved the day when Mom was getting our breakfast ready.

I don't know about you, but there is something truly delicious about dunking bread into a cup of coffee with milk. If you haven't tried it, I encourage you to give it a go; personally, it brings back so many lovely memories, and I enjoy it just as much now as I did when I was a little girl. 😊

Saludos
