A few days ago, I was as an assistant in a coffee shop of a great friend, a well behaved gentleman asked me for a coffee with milk, or as we call it here in Venezuela "a brown". I was ready to make his coffee as the gentleman had requested, I served him the coffee at the bar, I was ready to serve other customers, after a while the gentleman finished his coffee, canceled and told me that coffee was very good, "you can get married now", oh no...! That made my blood boil, but as I work a lot with being assertive, I took a deep breath and answered him, "good that he liked the coffee, but what a bad start to his day because of the education he was given based on sexist principles and gender stereotypes".

Hace unos días, estuve como ayudante en una cafetería de una gran amiga, un señor bien portado me solicito un café con leche, o como acá en Venezuela le llamamos “un marrón”. Me dispuse a hacerle su café como el señor lo había pedido, le sirvo el café en la barra , me dispuse a atender a otros clientes , pasado un tiempo el señor termina su café , cancela y me dice estuvo muy bueno ese café , “ya se puede casar”, ay no!!..Eso me hirvió la sangre, pero como yo trabajo mucho con el ser asertiva, respire profundo y le respondí, “qué bueno que le haya gustado el café , pero que mal comenzó su día por culpa de la educación que le dieron cimentada en principios sexistas y estereotipos de género

Thinking that we women deserve special treatment does not mean being feminist, it goes far beyond that, nor is it to belittle the male gender, but to know and know how to defend our rights, which are the same. El pensar que nosotras las mujeres merezcamos un trato especial, no significa ser feminista, va mucho más allá de eso, tampoco es menospreciar al género masculino, sino conocer y saber defender nuestros derechos que son los mismos. Aquí no se concibe la superioridad ni la discriminación como premisa, al contrario nuestro lema es combatir la desigualdad que hemos experimentado muchas mujeres por el solo hecho de ser mujer.

I am not going to generalize, fortunately not all men are sexist, but unfortunately the system is, and there is no escape. If we analyze it well, men have lived subject to a culture that conditions their way of life based on the fact of being men, but it does not compare at all with the suffering of women in relation to the judgment and criticism for the mere fact of being a woman, or for the way we dress or behave, even for the way we express ourselves, or how we act in a certain situation, and it is really tiring. It is enough that our word is taken as of little value, enough of inequality in all aspects, that we receive a miserable compensation for our work. It is enough that in many countries where machismo reigns. Many women, girls and young girls are raped and murdered... For God's sake, enough is enough!

No voy a generalizar, afortunadamente no todos los hombres son machistas, pero desgraciadamente el sistema lo es, y no hay escapatoria. Si lo analizamos bien, los hombres han vivido sometidos a una cultura que condiciona su forma de vida por el hecho de ser hombres, pero no se compara en absoluto con el sufrimiento de las mujeres en relación al juicio y la crítica por el mero hecho de ser mujer, o por la forma de vestir o de comportarse, incluso por la forma de expresarse, o de actuar en una determinada situación, y es realmente cansino. Basta con que nuestra palabra sea tomada como de poco valor, basta con la desigualdad en todos los aspectos, con que recibamos una mísera compensación por nuestro trabajo. Ya está bien que en muchos países donde reina el machismo. Muchas mujeres, niñas y jóvenes sean violadas y asesinadas... Por Dios, ¡basta ya!

Nuestra sociedad se ha convertido en una sociedad en la que es imposible vivir porque existe un grupo de personas entre ellas las mujeres que se encuentran en desventaja.
Hay muchas maneras de definir la libertad, de explicar el sentido de la igualdad y de compartir la fuerza del feminismo. Mujeres de todas partes lo hemos hecho en diferentes momentos, Solo esperamos que nuestra voz sea escuchada!
