If we take into account the amount of tasks to perform nowadays, where we live in a very hectic and dynamic reality, I think it is propitious and very important to study and evaluate any theory that focuses on the study of motivation and its favorable consequences on people's performance.

Our behavior as human beings makes us set ourselves new challenges every time, challenges that in themselves are not easy to achieve, especially taking into account that they are challenges that demand a lot of motivation. Motivation is the engine that moves or drives us to achieve great goals, which is why studying the theory of self-determination can help us understand the most important elements that lead us to achieve great things.

Self-determination theory

It is a theory proposed by Decí and Ryan, which proposes that our behavior as human beings has a certain degree of influence on everything that can affect our personal motivation, for this theory makes great relevance in self-determination, since depending on our ability to decide is that we can achieve or not what we propose.

It must be taken into account that in this sense the personality and the biological and autobiographical elements of the person in question, the context in which his behavior moves and the specific situation in which it is carried out are of great importance, being elements that influence each other and affect the possible appearance of different types of motivation.

Based on the theory of self-determination, what other elements can be used as a basis for considering the scope of motivation?

Logically, the personality of the individual and also the biological elements are of great importance, since they are preponderant to evaluate the context in which his behavior is executed, all this makes us think that there is not a single type of motivation in which an individual can move, but depending on the biological background and his behavior is that he will adapt a type of motivation that is attached to these demands.
