I went to the Glass Museum in Puerto Cabello [ESP/ENG]

Today I want to share a bit more about the wonderful outing my sisters and I took to the beautiful city of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela. It is also my way of acknowledging and nurturing that lovely spirit we Venezuelans possess—one we hold onto despite the pain the country is currently enduring. However, I don’t want to dwell on the sadness, but rather on the happy moments. That is why today I want to take you to visit the Casa Herrera museum—better known as the Glass Museum—and you will soon understand why.
Hoy quiero compartir un poco más de lo que fue esta maravillosa salida de mis hermanas y yo a la bellísima ciudad de Puerto Cabello en Venezuela, es mi manera además de reconocer y avivar esa esencia tan bonita que tenemos los venezolanos y que conservamos a pesar del dolor que estamos atravesando en este momento como país, pero no quiero ahondar en la tristeza sino precisamente en los momentos felices. Por eso hoy quiero llevarlos a conocer el museo Casa Herrera, mejor conocido como El Museo del vidrio o Museo de Cristal y ya entenderán porqué.
This place houses a great many historical elements that are part of our country's history; for instance, we saw cannons dating back to the Spanish colonial era and numerous artifacts that caught my eye—such as antique cameras and radios from around the beginning of the last century. There is also information about a renowned artist from Puerto Cabello, celebrated for performing and composing great songs of his time. It is truly impressive to realize that all of this is right there within reach, yet it has existed since long before my parents or grandparents were even born—standing as silent witnesses to history.
Este lugar alberga muchísimos elementos históricos que forman parte de la historia de nuestro país, por ejemplo vimos algunos cañones que datan de los tiempos de la colonia española y muchos artefactos que llamaron mi atención como cámaras de fotografía muy antiguas y también radios de la más o menos principios del siglo pasado, asimismo hay información sobre un artista ilustre de Puerto Cabello conocido por interpretar y componer grandes canciones de sus tiempos, y resulta muy impresionante saber que todo eso está allí, al alcance de nuestra mano y sin embargo también estuvo allí desde mucho antes del nacimiento de mis padres o abuelos, y es que precisamente son testigos mudos de la historia.
One standout feature of the museum is the glass walkway—a glazed section spanning the second and third floors that allows you to walk over the house's historic structure and is ultimately what gives the venue the name "Glass Museum." While some of my fellow excursionists were afraid to walk across it, I personally felt completely confident; it looked sturdy, and I had a great experience. Upon reaching the terrace, I couldn't help but admire the stunning view, which offered a panorama of the sea and the city's entire historic center; naturally, I took the opportunity to have my photo taken next to that huge, beautiful flag of my country.
Algo que obviamente destaca en el museo es la pasarela de cristal que es una zona acristalada en el segundo y tercer piso que permite caminar sobre la estructura histórica de la casa y que es al final es la que le confiere el título de Museo de Cristal. Hubo compañeros de la excursión que sintieron miedo de caminar por ahí pero honestamente a mi me generó mucha confianza, se veía resistente y la experiencia para mi fue muy buena. Al llegar a la terraza no pude evitar admirar la bellísima vista desde donde se podía apreciar el mar y todo el casco histórico de la ciudad, y desde luego yo aproveché la oportunidad de fotografiarme junto a esa enorme y bellísima bandera de mi país.
There were also very old record players and typewriters, among other things, as well as information about Don Ítalo Pizzolante—the famous composer of the waltz "Mi Puerto Cabello," which has become a second anthem for the city.
También había tocadiscos muy antiguos, maquinas de escribir entre otras cosas y también había información sobre Don Ítalo Pizzolante, famoso autor del Vals "Mi Puerto Cabello" el cuál se ha convertido en un segundo himno para la ciudad
Something I—and my fellow travelers—absolutely loved was the museum's virtual reality and 8K 360° technology rooms. These allow visitors to virtually explore the region's significant islands—most notably Isla Larga and Patanemo—as well as sites like Fortín Solano, a fortification once used to defend the city against pirate attacks. They also provide interactive information on the Historic District and key events that took place in this beautiful city during the War of Independence, featuring historical letters and documents.
Algo que me encantó y disfruté muchísimo, así como mis compañeros de viaje, fueron las salas de realidad virtual y tecnología 360° en 8K que tiene el museo para que los visitantes puedan explorar virtualmente las diferentes islas tan importantes que tienen en la región, en las cuales destacan Isla Larga y Patanemo, pero también lugares como el Fortín Solano que es un fuerte que usaban en su época para resguardar la ciudad del asedio de piratas, y también nos ofrecen información interactiva del Casco Histórico y también de hechos muy importantes ocurridos en esa preciosa ciudad durante los tiempos de la guerra de independencia, incluso hay cartas y documentos históricos .
