La Cofradía de San Juan Bautista [ESP/ENG]

I recently had the opportunity to visit Puerto Cabello, a port city in the state of Carabobo, Venezuela. I was there on a sightseeing trip with two of my sisters, and we had the wonderful opportunity not only to visit fabulous and emblematic places in the city but also to experience different cultural traditions, such as the beautiful cultural expression called the Brotherhood of Saint John. These are several cultural and religious groups that are distinguished by the fact that the "San Juaneros," that is, the members of the brotherhoods, play drums and then attend mass. Afterward, they parade through certain areas of the port while playing drums and singing songs alluding to the saint. It is a beautiful expression that highlights cultural values ​​and our identity as a multicultural and ethnic country.

Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de estar en Puerto Cabello, una ciudad portuaria en el estado Carabobo, Venezuela, estuve haciendo turismo en una excursión con dos de mis hermanas, y tuvimos la maravillosa oprtunidad, no solo de visitar lugares fabulosos y emblemáticos de la ciudad, sino de vivir diferentes experiencais culturales, como esta hermosa manifestación cultural llamada La Cofradía de San Juan, estas son varias agrupaciones culturales y religiosas que destacan por que los "San Juaneros" osea, los miembros de las cofradías hacen un toque de tambores y luego asisten a la misa, después hacen un recorrido por algunas zonas del puerto mientras tocan los tambores y cantan canciones alusivas al santo. Es una manifestación bellísima que resalta los valores culturales y nuestra identidad como país multicultural y etnico.
