The Diary of Anne Frank [ESP/ENG] Review
The books that move me the most and touch my soul are those that deal with the Holocaust, and if the plot involves children, they impact me even more; it's very painful. However, reading Anne Frank was an emotional rollercoaster for me because I knew I wasn't reading just any book, but a historical document and, above all, an intimate diary that shows the reality from the inside, the day-to-day life of two families in captivity, forced to live hidden in a small space.
Los libros que más me conmueven y me llegan al alma son esos que tienen que ver con el holocausto, y si la trama involucra niños me impactan más todavía, es muy doloroso, sin embargo leer Ana Frank para mi fue una montaña rusa de emociones porque sabía que no estaba leyendo un libro cualquiera, sino un documento histórico y sobre todo un diario íntimo que muestra la realidad desde adentro, el día a día de dos familias en cautiverio, forzadas a vivir ocultas en un espacio reducido.
I say it's an emotional rollercoaster because it's not just tense or dramatic moments; it also reveals the dreams and aspirations of a little girl who dreamed big, longed to become a writer, and wanted to meet movie stars. In fact, she had many newspaper clippings of movie stars in her room because, despite the forced confinement, the uncertainty, and the fear, she kept her spirit pure and her dreams intact. We also find typical experiences of cohabitation: arguments, disagreements, disputes over space or rights—in short, very everyday things that help the reader understand what it means to live under those conditions.
Digo que es una montaña rusa de emociones porque allí no solo encontramos momentos de tensión o dramáticos, también encontramos sueños e ilusiones de una niña que soñaba en grande, anhelaba convertirse en escritora y conocer estrellas de cine, de hecho tenía muchos recortes de periódicos de estrellas de cine en su espacio, porque a pesar del confinamiento forzado, a pesar de la incertidumbre y el miedo, ella conservaba su espíritu impoluto y sus sueños intactos. También encontramos experiencias típicas de la convivencia: discusiones, desavenencias, disputas de espacio o derechos, en fin, cosas muy cotidianas pero que ayudan a que el lector dimensione lo que significa vivir bajo esas condiciones.
Sometimes Anne gazes at the outside world through a tiny window, longing to one day go out and lead a normal life. However, it is painful to realize that this never happened, as her family was betrayed to the Gestapo, captured, and sent to concentration camps. To make matters worse, Anne and her sister Margot died in the camp shortly before its liberation by the Allies. Of the captured family, only Otto Frank (the father) and the diary remain as the sole witnesses to a life of hardship but also resilience, a life that served as an example to the world. Anne knew that her voice would one day be heard, that her diary would become a historical document, because she once heard someone on the radio mention that all letters and diaries written during that time would be considered historical documents in the future. From then on, she took her writings even more seriously, leaving behind a priceless legacy for future generations.
Algunas veces Ana contempla el mundo exterior a través de una diminuta ventana, anhelando con poder salir algún día y llevar una vida normal, sin embargo duele mucho comprobar que eso jamás pasó pues las familias fueron delatadas a la Gestapo, capturadas y enviadas a campos de concentración, para colmo Ana y su hermana Margot murieron en el campo de concentración poquísimo antes de que este fuese liberado por los aliados, y de las familias capturadas solo quedaron Otto Frank (el padre) y el diario como únicos testigos de una vida dura pero al mismo tiempo resiliente, que fue un ejemplo para el mundo. Ana sabía que su voz sería escuchada algún día, que su diario sería un documento histórico porque una vez escuchó a alguien en la radio mencionar que todas las cartas y diarios escritos en esa época serían considerados como documentos históricos en el futuro, así que a partir de allí le tomó más importancia a sus escritos, dejando un valiosísimo legado para futuras generaciones.
