_{Algunos libros de infancia de mis hijos}

    Un saludo a todos los integrantes de la hermosa y culta comunidad de #HiveBookClub. Es increíble cómo pasan los días de rápido y hasta hoy me doy cuenta que ya es el último día para poder participar en el Concurso # 3 del Club de lectura de Hive, Todo sobre los lectores. La verdad esta es mi primera vez escribiendo en esta comunidad y aunque antes había querido hacerlo no me había tomado el tiempo para contar mis experiencias como lectora.

    Tengo hermosos recuerdos de mi infancia rodeada de libros, por suerte tuve un padre que amaba la lectura y muchas veces me sentaba a su lado para escucharle susurrar algunos párrafos. A mi madre también le gustaba leer, solo que le gustaba más los libros de religión como la biblia.

    Mi padre me dijo un día “con los libros uno puede viajar por el mundo sin gastar ni un centavo” y me dijo con una sonrisa en los labios “Yo he viajado hasta china”. Con el tiempo entendí cuál era el significado de aquellas palabras.

    Mi experiencia como lectora comenzó desde los 11 años, en casa había un libro de cuentos muy bonita, recuerdo que junto a mi prima Gladys leíamos una y otra vez las mismas historias, sobre todo en las tardes de lluvia donde todos nos metíamos en las habitaciones para descansar. Nunca olvidare los cuentos "El diente roto" y "La mata de centavos".

    Más tarde conocería otro libro que tenía una vecina en su biblioteca y yo de atrevida se lo pedí prestado, ella muy amablemente me lo cedía cada vez que yo quería con la única condición que se lo cuidara y se lo devolviera cuando lo terminara de leer; se trababa de ese libro amarillo que está en esta imagen y que años más tarde ella me lo regalara cuando se mudó a otro lugar, desde entonces lo cuido mucho y forma parte de mis libros favoritos.

    Cuando me convertí en madre procuré con el ejemplo enseñar, cultivar o fomentar la lectura en mis hijos, así que desde muy chicos les leía un cuento por las noches, por las mañanas le colocaba un casette en el equipo que contaba los cuentos mientras el niño veía las imágenes en el libro y luego me hacía muchas preguntas y siempre comentábamos la historia y la lección que el cuento quería enseñar. Poco a poco ellos fueron tomando amor por la lectura; recuerdo que en varias oportunidades luego de hacer mis quehaceres me bañaba y me recostaba en el mueble de la sala para leer un libro o una revista, pues al verme ellos hacer eso buscaban también sus libros y hacían lo mismo sin que nadie los mandara.

    A mí me gustaba mucho verles asi y desde entonces comencé a comprarles todo tipo de libros infantiles y se volvió una costumbre visitar librerías, ir a ferias de libros, buscar exposiciones de libros viejos donde se consiguen libros maravillosos.

    Otro día me gustaría seguirles contando más experiencias de mi vida y la de mis hijos como lectores. En verdad es muy bonito ya hora entiendo a mi padre lo que me quiso decir con aquellas palabras que años más tarde le repetía a mis hijos.

    Pasando al punto que nos reúne hoy en esta sala, paso a responder con mi humilde lenguaje de una simple mortal las preguntas que nos proponen.

¿Cuál es tu momento o lugar favorito para leer?

    Mi lugar favorito en este momento es mi sala, allí paso horas leyendo recostada en mi sofá, bien cómoda rodeada de cojines para apoyar mi libro, revista o cualquier tema que quiera observar. Mi momento favorito es por las tardes luego de dormir la siesta, me encanta despertarme, hacer un buen café y tomar cualquier cosa para leer, así sea un libro de cocina o manualidad. La sala de mi casa es fresca, tiene mucha iluminación, es silenciosa y este último es un punto importantísimo para mí ya que necesito mucha concentración. Cuando era niña me gustaba leer en un ambiente con estas cualidades solo que ese lugar era una mata de aguacates que tenía mi padre en la finca, era un árbol enorme y tenía una rama extendida como a un metro del suelo, allí me sentaba con mis libros para estudiar o entender cualquier cosa.

¿Qué te hace disfrutar de un libro?

    Me gusta tener el conocimiento de las cosas, siento que no me basta con lo que ya se, por el contrario quiero aprender más y nunca es tarde para hacerlo. Todo depende del tema que este apasionándome en ese momento, cuando quiero aprender de historia busco todo lo relacionado a ese tema, compro libros, busco imágenes, comparo, saco mis conclusiones, eso me apasiona en verdad. No me gusta conformarme con lo que tengo sino siempre busco más, así hasta que llega otro tema. También me puede pasar con un autor, cuando me gusta compro y leo varios de sus libros. No sé si me explico, pero eso me gusta, lo disfruto, es casi un vicio para mí.

¿Le gusta leer al aire libre, antes de acostarse o en el autobús de camino al trabajo?

    Desde que vivo en la gran ciudad observé que todo el mundo en el metro leía el periódico o algún libro y me di cuenta de la cantidad de horas que podemos pasar sentados mientras vamos de un lado a otro. Al percatarme de esto comencé a comprar el periódico bien temprano en la mañana y cuando conseguía asiento en el metro abría mi periódico y leía las páginas más grandes y dejaba de ultimo las revistas y folletos. Luego comencé a llevarme mis libros y revistas y eso me gustaba porque no desaprovechaba ni un minuto de mi vida en pensamientos estúpidos o recostados a una ventana esperando que pase el tiempo para llegar a mi destino. Recuerdo que leía todo, desde los grandes anuncios hasta el horóscopo de mi esposo, mis hermanos, mi vecina y para que no quedara el sudoku o el crucigrama sin hacer también aprendí hacerlo.

    Ahora que estoy en casa y mis manualidad ocupan gran parte de mi vida he tenido que recurrir en varias oportunidades a los audiolibros, no me gusta mucho pero es una forma de mantener mi mente viajando entre historias asombrosas o historias reflexivas que pueden aportar algo cada día a mi vida.

¿Te enfocas en el desarrollo del personaje, los mensajes reflexivos o el nivel de intriga que genera una trama en ti?

    Esta pregunta tiene varios enfoques porque todo depende del libro que tengas en ese momento en tus manos, hay libros de reflexión que te atrapan, recuerdo cuando leí mi primer libro de “Sopa de pollo para el alma” no pude parar y lo leí en una noche, lloré en cada capítulo unos más que otros; en cambio hay libros que me atrapan por el drama y el tormento que padecen los personajes de la historia, como es el caso de “Cien años de soledad” mi libro favorito; en este libro todos los personajes comienzan a padecer desde la primera línea,

    Ahora que escribo para ustedes me doy cuenta lo fácil que es y aunque no tengo un vocabulario muy culto quisiera seguir contando todas mis experiencias. Estoy muy contenta de haber tomado este tiempo para participar y quisiera agradecer a mi amiga @Kattycrochet por la invitación. También me gustaría hacer lo mismo e invitar a @Lisfabian y @Purrix para que se unan a la comunidad, conozco muy bien de su amor por la lectura y aquí se sentirán muy a gusto.

Greetings to everyone in the beautiful and cultured #HiveBookClub community. It's amazing how the days go by fast and even today I realize that it's already the last day to be able to participate in the Hive Book Club Contest #3, All About Readers . Truth be told this is my first time writing in this community and although I had wanted to before I had not taken the time to tell my experiences as a reader.

"Living, without a doubt, is more important than reading, but reading helps to live, it helps to make life more beautiful, more ample, more generous..." Luis Beltrán Prieto Figueroa.

I have beautiful memories of my childhood surrounded by books, luckily I had a father who loved reading and many times I would sit next to him to listen to him whisper a few paragraphs. My mother also loved to read, she just liked religious books like the bible more.

My father told me one day "with books you can travel the world without spending a penny" and he told me with a smile on his lips "I have traveled all the way to China". With time I understood the meaning of those words.

My experience as a reader began when I was 11 years old, at home there was a very nice story book, I remember that together with my cousin Gladys we read over and over again the same stories, especially on rainy afternoons when we all went to our rooms to rest. I will never forget the stories "The broken tooth" and "The penny bush".

Later I would know another book that a neighbor had in her library and I dared to borrow it, she very kindly gave it to me whenever I wanted with the only condition that I would take care of it and return it to her when I finished reading it; it was that yellow book that is in this image and that years later she gave it to me when she moved to another place, since then I take care of it a lot and it is part of my favorite books.

When I became a mother I tried by example to teach, cultivate or encourage reading in my children, so from a very young age I read them a story at night, in the mornings I put a cassette in the computer that told the stories while the child saw the images in the book and then asked me many questions and we always commented on the story and the lesson that the story wanted to teach. Little by little they were taking love for reading; I remember that on several occasions after doing my chores I would take a bath and lay down on the living room furniture to read a book or a magazine, because when they saw me doing that they also looked for their books and did the same without anyone sending them.

I really liked to see them like that and since then I started to buy them all kinds of children's books and it became a habit to visit bookstores, go to book fairs, look for old book expositions where you can get wonderful books.
Another day I would like to continue telling you more about my life and my children's experiences as readers. It is really nice to understand what my father meant to me with those words that years later I repeated to my children.

Moving on to the point that brings us together in this room today, I will now respond in my humble language of a mere mortal to the questions proposed to us.

What is your favorite time or place to read?

My favorite place at the moment is my living room, there I spend hours reading lying on my couch, very comfortable surrounded by cushions to support my book, magazine or any topic I want to observe. My favorite time is in the afternoons after taking a nap, I love to wake up, make a good coffee and take anything to read, even if it is a cookbook or craft. My living room is cool, has lots of light, is quiet and this last one is a very important point for me since I need a lot of concentration. When I was a child I liked to read in an environment with these qualities but that place was an avocado tree that my father had on the farm, it was a huge tree and had a branch extended about a meter from the ground, there I sat with my books to study or understand anything.

What makes you enjoy a book?.


I like to have the knowledge of things, I feel that what I already know is not enough, on the contrary I want to learn more and it's never too late to do it. It all depends on the topic that I am passionate about at that moment, when I want to learn about history I look for everything related to that topic, I buy books, I look for images, I compare, I draw my conclusions, I am really passionate about that. I don't like to be satisfied with what I have, I always look for more, until another subject comes along. It can also happen to me with an author, when I like him I buy and read several of his books. I don't know if I make myself clear, but I like it, I enjoy it, it's almost a vice for me.

Do you like to read outdoors, before bedtime or on the bus on the way to work?.


Since I live in the big city I noticed that everyone on the subway was reading the newspaper or some book and I realized how many hours we can spend sitting while going from one place to another. When I realized this I started to buy the newspaper very early in the morning and when I got a seat on the subway I would open my newspaper and read the larger pages and leave the magazines and brochures last. Then I started to take my books and magazines with me and I liked that because I didn't waste a minute of my life in stupid thoughts or leaning against a window waiting for time to pass to get to my destination. I remember reading everything from the big ads to my husband's horoscope, my siblings, my neighbor and so that there was no sudoku or crossword puzzle left undone I also learned to do it.

Now that I am at home and my crafts take up a large part of my life I have had to resort on several occasions to audio books, I don't really like it but it is a way to keep my mind traveling between amazing stories or thoughtful stories that can bring something every day to my life.

Do you focus on character development, thoughtful messages or the level of intrigue a plot generates in you?.

This question has several approaches because it all depends on the book you have at that moment in your hands, there are books of reflection that catch you, I remember when I read my first book of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" I could not stop and I read it in one night, I cried in each chapter some more than others; instead there are books that catch me by the drama and torment suffered by the characters of the story, as is the case of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" my favorite book; in this book all the characters begin to suffer from the first line,

Now that I am writing for you I realize how easy it is and although I do not have a very cultured vocabulary I would like to continue telling all my experiences. I am very glad I took this time to participate and would like to thank my friend @Kattycrochet for the invitation.
