I am very pleased to write to you and participate again in an edition of CCC`s Street Art Contest that @digi-me organizes every week.

CCC`s Street Art Contest Round 129

This week, while I was spending a couple of days in the town of Castro Urdiales (Cantabria-Spain) I took a long walk through this beautiful place with a long seafaring tradition where in every corner you can hear the sound of seagulls, the roar or the murmur of the sea depending on how fierce you are.

When I was finishing my walk from a viewpoint I saw in the distance on a large wall, a mural that I did not distinguish very well what it was about, so I did not hesitate a second to approach the mural to see it closely.

When I approached the mural I soon realized that it was a mural dedicated to the fishmongers, a very widespread trade in the area because Castro Urdidles was and remains one of the most important fishing ports of Cantabria, highlighting the sardine fishing.

This mural was painted last year by the muralist Esteve Camino, within a project of three murals that take as a theme the trades of the sea in the fishing district. Those who may be interested in seeing the process of elaboration of the mural can view it at the following link:

Mural elaboration process

This mural is located in Arturo Vital Street, near the pebble beach called the Pedregal, on whose beach I found these funny sculptures where you can see the sculpture of a child jumping into the sea.

Returning to the main theme which is urban art, as you can see the colors used by the muralist, where the greenish and gray tones stand out, combine very well with the environment of the place, since in the environment of the mural stand out the greenish colors of the cliff area and also the gray tones of the pebbles of the beach.

The elaboration of the mural, like many others that I have seen around Cantabria and that my friend @duvinca has shown us during the last weeks, has been promoted by the regional government of Cantabria using funds from the European Union in collaboration with local associations and the city council itself, in this case of Castro Urdidles.

I have seen that you have been in Cantabria recently.

I live 2 hours from Santander and I go to Cantabria a couple of times a month for work.

I have seen that you have had a lot of fun there.

Beautiful mural especially when it's linked to local history or tradition. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community and all the success for the contest. Have a great week.
