I am very pleased to write to you and participate again in an edition of CCC`s Street Art Contest that @digi-me organizes every week.
This is my second participation in the contest in which I am very motivated to participate after having obtained the third place in the 110th edition of the contest and especially after discovering thanks to this contest a new photographic hobby looking for murals or graffiti on business trips throughout the Iberian Peninsula.
From today Monday until Wednesday, I am in a small town in the province of Lugo, Spain, called Monforte de Lemos. It is a town of about 17000 habitants. This afternoon, after leaving work and answering some emails at the hotel, I was looking for points of interest in the city and all the tourist guides in the hotel show me an urban mural as a point of interest. This mural in question is the work entitled "Scenes of Monforte" by the authors Miguel Peralta and Xoana Almar and is located at 22D San Lázaro street.
As can be seen, the mural is divided into four different parts, of which I have only been able to correlate three of them with information from the city.
The left part of the mural shows a woman harvesting grapes. The town of Monforte de Lemos is located in one of the wine areas with denomination of origin that is the Ribera Sacra. Where the grape harvest is a very hard work because it is harvested in a very steep area in the canyons of the river Sil.
The lower left part is related to the railway past of the city and the existence of a railroad museum.
The upper right part honors one of the main attractions of the city, which is the monumental complex of San Vicente del Pino, which includes a large tower, a palace and a monastery located at the highest point of the city.
The central part is drawn a mermaid, which calls my attention very much, since the sea is more than 100 kilometers away and I have not found information about it. What I can translate for you is the inscription on the shield that says the following: "Antes muertos que escamadas" (sooner dead than scaled). And if you look above the head of the mermaid there is a pot from which sprouts a tree that is seen at the top.
I hope you like my contribution to the contest and also that you like the explanation that I have found to the mural, except for the enigma of the mermaid that I hope to be able to solve in the next days by asking local people if they can give me an orientation about its meaning in the mural.

Thank you. There is a very deep relationship with the railroad and trains in this small town.
I was told today that there is another train graffiti in the same town, but I will have to take the picture in 15 days when I go back to that town.
