Despite the fragility of a spider's web for humans, it is a real prison for approaching insects.
The small fly in the first three photos struggled with all its strength and was not able to free itself from the fragile spider net.
A second, larger fly could no longer fight the web and surrendered to its fate.
This post is my entry to Qurator's Photo Quest contest which is all about fragility organized weekly by @qurator.
Once the contest came out it was clear to me that I wanted to enter this week's contest with a photograph of a spider web; however, the camera on my iPhone SE phone would not allow me to get photographs that I liked. So last Saturday I purchased a set of 4 Selvin lenses compatible with my iPhone SE including a 25X macro lens from Amazon.
Once the lenses arrived within the day, I went out to my vegetable garden where some spiders have spun their webs near the tomato plants and are being a death trap for mosquitoes, flies and other insects.
As you can see, the spider web is not completely smooth, but includes some resinous drops that are what makes the insects get trapped inside the fragile web for humans, but a real prison for insects.
Therefore, in view of the contest one may wonder if the term fragility would be the spider web or rather the fragility of the life of an insect when it encounters this deadly prison.
