The important thing is not the goal but the effort to reach it. CCC's Street Art Contest #145

Hi folks,

Today I have arrived in Ponferrada (León-Spain) after several months of waiting and I say waiting because for me it is a pleasure to come to work, even if only for a day to Ponferrada because of its great beauty with the great Templar castle that is in the highest part of the city.

But today I do not come to talk about Templars, but of urban art and is that in this small city, from the city council, have put the focus on giving light and color through murals and through them revitalize the most degraded areas of the city.

I can only tell you that in 15 minutes of walking I have found 3 large murals and a residential area where all the walls are decorated with trees, birds, clouds in the form of airplanes/ovni and more surprises that I will discover in the coming weeks. Here is a preview.

As for the great murals that I have found, I present the first of them, which is the one I liked the most to see a fully equipped cyclist with a basket on his handlebars with E.T. Who does not remember this character of Steven Spielberg?

The mural is composed, on one side, of the cyclist with E.T on a building about 5 stories high.

Next to the mural you can see on a plant building the following message:
"The important thing is not the goal, but the effort to reach it".

It is a good message of self-improvement, because today in which prevails to achieve more and more goals, I think it is important to see the effort we have to make to achieve them and seek comfort in how we get with our effort these goals and not just for the mere fact of getting them.

As for the mural, I loved the level of detail in the E.T. and how he points with his finger to the text of the mural and that we reflect on the message of the same.

As for its location, as I told you, it is in the city of Ponferrada, on Avenida de Libertad, at the confluence with Doctor Fleming and Gregorio Marañón streets.

As for the author of the mural, tell you that it is a work of the muralist Asier Vera of which I leave a link to his personal blog where you can enjoy his work, which is extensive and of very good quality.
