Epic Weather - 12/01/22

The long run of boring/grey/wet/mild weather is over. I managed to get out with my camera four times this week. One morning was slightly disappointing (there was no mist), but the other 3 were beautiful, and quite different weather wise. Off course this has all coincided with being busy at work, and the whole week has felt like a whirlwind. Get up early and leg it to the park on my bike. Roll back home just in time to log in for work. Stick a hat on my head for any 'Microsoft Teams' meetings that are scheduled in the morning, to disguise the fact that I've spent a couple of hours crawling around in mud in the park with my camera, and look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. One of my colleagues told me a looked really 'cool' with my beany hat on, so at least that's something. In my lunch hour I get chance to make myself look presentable, should I be required for video calls during the afternoon. At least I'm not client facing and just talk to the other 3d artists, the producer and the director, so what I look like is not a big deal.

It's been frustrating because I've not really had much time to edit the images that I've taken. Usually, I like to get home and immediately look through my shots and start editing straight away. I'm always curious to see what I've captured. Now I've got a whole bunch of images that I haven't yet had my full attention, and it's making me very twitchy. The weekend has also been busy as my husband and I have upgraded to a new, bigger allotment, and most of our spare time has been taken up sorting that out (more crawling around in mud).

Anyway, here are a small handful of images that I took on Wednesday morning. There are more to follow as I sift through and edit, from Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Pastel Dawn

This might be one of the nicest sunrises I've seen in ages. Based on the weather forecast, I had not intended to do a sunrise shoot, but when I set off on my bike and saw the high cloud, I decided to head to the ponds, as it was clearly going to light up beautifully. I arrived just in time for this shot. The colours were dreamy, and with a perfect amount of mist.

Reflections

The colour gradually changed from pink, to blue and orange, as the cloud moved across the sky and the sun rose higher. The water was like a mirror.

The mist began to thicken a little as the sun rose. I headed to a little copse of trees that I have shot before....

Tree Patterns

After taking this shot, I headed into another one of my favourite patches of woodland. Sadly, the path was really muddy (did I mention it had rained quite a lot?! :) and so the shot I had in mind looked rather trampled and squelchy. The pitfalls of photographing a popular London park! It had been an amazing morning though. I will post another update once I've had a bit more time to do some more editing.

Thank you @alfredomora! The first one is my favourite too. These are the best conditions I've seen up by the ponds in ages. The light was beautiful. Only just got there in time, as it was not my original plan to come to this location. Really glad that you enjoyed them. :)

Thank you Kieran! I don't think that conditions get much better than this at the ponds. It's the best morning I've had in ages. I felt so lucky to be there. :)

Thank you Tristan! Really glad that you like them. The weather has been amazing for the last week and a half. I'm exhausted trying to fit photography and work in. It was probably quite nice in the park this morning, but I needed a lie in. :)
