Saludos amigos de la comunidad de @holos-lotus, ya ha iniciado este mes de Julio y me uno al sentimiento por las familias que que perdieron tanto, es un luto que compartimos como venezolanos, así como la preocupación de familiares, de los amigos que están lejos, refleja que estamos juntos en esto.

En particular he estado junto con mi hija y familia estos días para acompañarnos, pasando ese terrible susto, aunque ya las réplicas han sido de menor intensidad.

Estas imágenes que les comparto las tomé desde la vista de la casa de mi hermana, se ve el viaducto hacia la Guaira.

En la imagen se aprecian perfectamente el imponente paisaje de nuestra cordillera. Al fondo, abajo entre las montañas, se distingue claramente la silueta del Viaducto de la Autopista Caracas - La Guaira, abriéndose paso hacia el litoral.

Además, se nota al fondo ese contraste plano y claro que revela la silueta del mar Caribe (o la bruma costera) justo en la brecha que dejan las montañas.

Se puede apreciar claramente la imponente silueta de las montañas de la Cordillera de la Costa y, al fondo en el valle, la estructura del Viaducto de la Autopista Caracas - La Guaira (el icónico arco que cruza el relieve).

Incluso se llega a ver al fondo, entre la brecha de las montañas, la línea del horizonte donde se percibe el mar Caribe o la densa neblina costera y se puede contemplar ese escape hacia el litoral.

Desde el sector Vista Hermosa en Catia, Caracas, al estar en la parte alta de esa zona de la parroquia Sucre, vimos muchos de los funcionarios, recatistas, ambulancias, buscar y usar por esa vía, que da a un camino rústico o vía de paso temporal, que se habilita de forma paralela para alternar con la brecha que se abre paso a través de la montaña y así conectar directo hacia la autopista y de allí directo a la Guaira.

Es profundamente doloroso e impactante ver lo que está viviendo nuestro amado litoral. El golpe que ha sufrido La Guaira tras este doble terremoto del pasado 24 de junio ha sido devastador y ha revivido heridas históricas y temores muy profundos en todos los venezolanos.

Saber que zonas tan queridas como Catia La Mar, Caraballeda y Tanaguarena se han convertido en el epicentro de semejante tragedia y que tantas familias están pasando por momentos tan oscuros nos rompe el corazón a todos, (el 50 % de esta publicación en apoyo a nuestra amiga @carisma77).

Me llena de tristeza que a pocos kilómetros de estas fotos tantas personas luchan por salir adelante, me recuerda lo vulnerables que somos pero también la inmensa solidaridad que nos caracteriza.

Lo que sostiene la esperanza en este momento:

• La unión de la gente: Miles de voluntarios civiles venezolanos y brigadistas se han volcado por completo a colaborar en las zonas de desastre, organizando centros de acopio, donaciones y prestando apoyo humano.

• Ayuda internacional en el terreno: Equipos de rescate especializados, unidades caninas y brigadas humanitarias de más de una decena de países (como España, México, Colombia, El Salvador y EE. UU.) se encuentran trabajando sin descanso en las estructuras colapsadas del litoral.

• Milagros entre los escombros: A pesar de las inmensas dificultades logísticas, el esfuerzo titánico de los rescatistas ha permitido salvar la vida de miles de personas atrapadas en estos últimos días.

Es una situación durísima que tardará años en sanar, pero el espíritu de apoyo mutuo que se siente en Caracas, en La Guaira, en cada estado afectado y en todo el país, es lo que nos mantiene en pie, pues gracias a Dios, aún cuando el sismo se sintió muy fuerte, todos estamos bien y a salvo. En momentos tan difíciles como este, saber que los seres queridos están a resguardo es la mayor bendición.

Me uno a cada una de las personas afectadas con la confianza en nuestro creador, para que fortalezca nuestra fe como fuente de todo consuelo y refugio en la adversidad, hoy levantamos nuestras oraciones por nuestra amada Venezuela, ¡Un abrazo enorme y mucha fuerza!.

Greetings to my friends in the @holos-lotus community. July is now well and truly underway, and I share in the grief felt by the families who have lost so much; it is a mourning we share as Venezuelans, just as the concern shown by relatives and friends who are far away reflects that we are in this together.

In particular, I’ve been with my daughter and her family these past few days, supporting one another through this terrible ordeal, although the aftershocks have now been less intense.

I took these photos I’m sharing with you from the view outside my sister’s house; you can see the viaduct leading to La Guaira.

The image clearly shows the imposing landscape of our mountain range. In the background, down amongst the mountains, the silhouette of the Caracas–La Guaira Motorway Viaduct can be clearly made out, winding its way towards the coast.

Furthermore, in the background, you can see that clear, flat contrast that reveals the outline of the Caribbean Sea (or the coastal mist) right in the gap left by the mountains.

You can clearly make out the imposing silhouette of the mountains of the Cordillera de la Costa and, in the background in the valley, the structure of the Caracas–La Guaira Motorway Viaduct (the iconic arch spanning the landscape).

You can even make out, in the distance, through the gap in the mountains, the horizon where the Caribbean Sea or the thick coastal mist can be glimpsed, and you can gaze out towards the coast.

From the Vista Hermosa neighbourhood in Catia, Caracas – which is situated in the upper part of that area of the Sucre parish – we saw many officials, rescue workers and ambulances using that road, which leads to a rough track or temporary bypass. This route has been set up in parallel to the path cutting through the mountain, providing a direct link to the motorway and from there straight to La Guaira.

It is deeply painful and shocking to see what our beloved coastline is going through. The blow suffered by La Guaira following the twin earthquakes on 24 June has been devastating and has reopened historic wounds and stirred up deep-seated fears in all Venezuelans.

Knowing that areas so dear to us, such as Catia La Mar, Caraballeda and Tanaguarena, have become the epicentre of such a tragedy, and that so many families are going through such dark times, breaks all our hearts (50 per cent of the proceeds from this post will go to support our friend @carisma77).

It fills me with sadness that, just a few kilometres from where these photos were taken, so many people are struggling to get by; it reminds me of how vulnerable we are, but also of the immense solidarity that defines us.

What is keeping hope alive at this moment:

• People coming together: Thousands of Venezuelan civilian volunteers and relief workers have thrown themselves wholeheartedly into helping in the disaster-stricken areas, organising collection centres, collecting donations and providing emotional support.

• International aid on the ground: Specialised rescue teams, canine units and humanitarian brigades from more than a dozen countries (including Spain, Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador and the US) are working tirelessly amongst the collapsed structures along the coastline.

• Miracles amongst the rubble: Despite immense logistical difficulties, the titanic efforts of the rescue workers have made it possible to save the lives of thousands of people who have been trapped over the last few days.

It is an extremely difficult situation that will take years to heal, but the spirit of mutual support that can be felt in Caracas, in La Guaira, in every affected state and throughout the country is what keeps us going; for, thank God, even though the earthquake was felt very strongly, we are all well and safe. In times as difficult as these, knowing that our loved ones are safe is the greatest blessing.

I stand with each and every one of those affected, placing our trust in our Creator to strengthen our faith as a source of all comfort and refuge in adversity. Today we lift up our prayers for our beloved Venezuela. A huge hug and lots of strength to you all!
