Art Journal: Mountain Lake Painting

avatar

Greetings Hivers, How are you there? Welcome to my art journal. Today I painted another piece of art inspired by one of the well-known painters no other than bob ross.

Bob ross's painting is outstanding, His specialty was landscape paintings, and also his artwork looks easy because of his brilliant technique of painting.

In this post, I'm going to demonstrate how to paint a mountain lake with acrylic paint.

Materials Needed:
👉 Acrylic paper pad
👉 Pencil and eraser
👉 Ruler
👉 Clean Water
👉 Rag
👉 Paper napkin

Brushes:
👉 Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
👉 Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
👉 Round Brush #8 / 5/32" / 4.0mm
👉 Filbert brush

Acrylic Paint:
👉 Titanium white
👉 Ultramarine blue
👉 Mars black
👉 Burnt sienna
👉 Green
👉 Lemon yellow
👉 Yellow ochre

Process:Firstly I made an outlined. Then by using a flat brush I started to paint the background with ultramarine blue and titanium white.

I just mixed the blue, mars black and burnt sienna for the first layer of the mountains. I used a flat brush in creating the mountains. However, If you can use a palette knife that would be great.

For the highlights of the mountains, I used titanium white and ultramarine blue.

The foreground of the mountain, I painted the distant fine trees with a small flat brush. Take note that you don't need much detail. It is just an indication that there are trees in the distance.

I always mention in my previous post that it is better also if you can use a fan brush for distant trees because this is bob ross's technique for creating those trees, And I could say it is very effective.

With green and black I painted the leaves of the big trees using a Gilbert brush. The highlights are lemon yellow, green, and a touch of yellow ochre.
Lastly, I put a reflection on the lake to make it alive and stand out.

This is the finished painting.

That's all for today, I hope you enjoyed this post, and thank you for stopping by!
Happy Painting!😀and Have a great day.

God bless!
