Welcome To My Blog!
I am honored to have you🤭

What do you want to call it? Liquor, Intoxicant, Spirit, Alcohol...in Nigeria, it's called Kai Kai...finding it difficult to pronounce lololol, some may call it Ogogoro while others call it Sapele Water!

‘Alcohol is a powerful chemical that can have a wide range of adverse effects on almost every part of your body, including your brain, bones, and heart.’

I would prefer to use the term ‘ Intoxicant ’ because it truly intoxicates an individual irrespective of your status quo, financial standards, and reputation. We can find this alcohol in so many beverages like coffee, wine, beer, and vodka. 80% of people in Nigeria consume alcohol daily and use it for so many other purposes. 9% of the population in Nigeria is dependent on this alcoholic drink, it's viewed as a boost of morale and it's taken when discussing events like football matches, arguments on political issues, matters arising, and the economic well-being of the country, and so forth.

Reasons For The Intake Of Alcohol.

An individual has several reasons for taking alcohol, it could be on an occasional event like birthdays, housewarming party, hang out, weddings, beach party and much more. I think this depends on the current mood of the person involved.
Like I said earlier, it's the mood that can determine the intake of such a beverage, let's say for an instance...

...a young man lost both his parents to a highway accident and that same day he lost his job, unfortunately, he has pending bills of rent to pay which the caretaker always embarrasses him...

assuming his name is Felix...Felix was lost in between two worlds, he is probably tired of crying and blaming himself for all these atrocities that befell him, which lead him into gulping alcoholic drinks that intoxicated him to an extent he slept on the bridge.

In this case, he acted with his emotions (mood)

So we have one of the reasons;

  1. A surge in Emotions (Mood)
  2. Peer Pressure
  3. Social Rationalization
  4. Handling Stress
  • Surge in Emotions; Rise and decline in emotional or psychological feelings/mood swings which could lead one to drink for pastimes.

  • Peer Pressure; So many victims of these circumstances are increasing daily, teenagers find themselves being pressurized by moneymaking, competition and oppressing of social standards. The urge or force of wanting to acquire wealth so that no one could intimidate or ride them is basically what they seek.

  • Social Rationalization; The rationalization of society describes the process by which society has become increasingly concerned with efficiency, predictability, calculability, and dehumanization.

  • Handling Stress; Several people take Alcoholic drinks to avert stress or manage them. Too few, it eases their pain and lessens their worries.

Alcohol intake should be measured based on one's capability to gauge his capacity to avert nausea and turmoil this is necessary to keep your sense of consciousness balanced and sharpen your awareness of your surroundings.

Effect Of Alcohol

Alcohol affects both the body & mind, regardless of whether you consider yourself a social drinker or a freak there are both short and long-term physical and psychological consequences to over-drinking.
Although a person may not be abusing alcohol regularly, they can still experience its short-term effects on the mind and body, the effects of alcohol can range from mild unconsciousness to more severe symptoms such as passing out or vomiting. Those short-term effects are trouble concentrating, loss of coordination, loss of critical judgment, passing out, and vomiting.

Alcoholic drinks might be so tasty and fruity that you can't tell when you gulp down a whole bottle of it and such an incident will leave you feeling weird afterward, especially these drinks that has strawberry flavor, chocolate flavor, vanilla flavor, and some other enticing flavors. Too much of everything will indeed lead to disaster, so it's very advisable to minimize the intake of alcohol because its reactions affect one's health in long while, let us see the outcomes of taking so much alcohol;

  • Growth of Cancer: When an individual is often taking an alcoholic drink, it tends to build up some cells causing cancer in the body system gradually and when it's getting to a certain stage it develops lumps in the body which can induce pain and discomfort. Places like the throat, mouth, breast, and liver can be affected because it passes through that area.

  • Memory loss: Loss of memory can be disturbing in any situation, it’s fairly well known that alcohol can have an effect on memory which is caused by deliberate human behaviors, such as drinking alcohol.
    Anyone who has had more than a few drinks in one sitting may have experienced the condition of blacking out, where it can be difficult to remember what happened while under the influence of alcohol.

  • Stroke: Alcoholic drinks tend to have calories that have no nutritional value, because they can affect memory and thinking, alcohol contributes to several medical conditions that are risk factors for stroke. Massive drinking has been consistently identified as a risk factor for stroke.

There is scientific research to back up these claims!
According to www.stroke.org.uk ‘Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol
can trigger atrial fibrillation – a type
of irregular heartbeat. Atrial fibrillation
increases your risk of stroke by five times,
because it can cause blood clots to form
in the heart. If these clots move up into
the brain, it can lead to stroke’

  • Internal Bleeding- This is naturally found in the female body system, ladies that drink heavily most on alcoholic drinks tend to have internal bleeding, this could result in dissolving the thick blood clot found in the system due to high concentration of alcohol, this incident mostly occur during childbirth which is likely to lead to the death of the patient. Women are advised to reduce their intake of spirits to avoid this situation.
  • Sexual Problem - Such as impotence or premature ejaculation, you might be wondering why it's included erection problems (impotence) are very common, particularly in men over 40. Most men occasionally fail to get or keep an erection. This is usually caused by stress, tiredness, anxiety, or drinking too much alcohol, it weakens the reproductive organs gradually to a point when it becomes a problem. source
    So it's advisable to be cautious of the units taken and also to know when to detoxify the body system to flush away toxins.
