Bohol Beauty: Nature, Wildlife, and Crystal-Clear Islands

Let’s go on another adventure where nature, wildlife, and crystal-clear waters are truly amazing. I’m taking you to Bohol, Philippines!

Our first activity was island hopping. We checked in at a hotel near the beach, and of course, we explored the shoreline first to see how beautiful the place was. There were many people at that time, restaurants were full and the beach area was lively. We then met a staff member offering an affordable island tour, and after a good conversation, we got a great deal. They also offered a rent-a-car service, which we booked for the next day for our next round of exploration.

And so the day finally came for our island-hopping tour. We woke up early and prepared everything we needed to bring. We rented a private boat, just like we always do. The ride started with dolphin watching, and it was so much fun seeing the dolphins swim alongside us as the boat moved. Since there were only a few boats around, we had to wait for the perfect moment for the dolphins to appear, and the boat went closer when they did. It was truly amazing! After that magical moment, our boat continued sailing until we arrived at Balicasag Island.

Here, we went snorkeling. Since I don’t know how to swim, I wore a life jacket. We got into the water and enjoyed the crystal-clear view and the fishes swimming around us. It felt like being inside a giant aquarium. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed snorkeling — we spent around 30 minutes here before moving to another spot where we could see turtles. The water here was already deep, so I couldn’t dive, but with my snorkeling mask, I was still able to see the turtles, different kinds of fish, and the beautiful coral reefs.

The next day, we visited Chocolate Hills, the Tarsier Sanctuary, the man-made forest, and the Loboc River. We started by exploring an old church that is well-known and popular among tourists in Bohol. Chocolate Hills feels different now compared to before—it's more developed, and there are stairs leading up to the viewing deck where you can enjoy a full 360° view of the hills. The man-made forest was also amazing, but we only stopped for a quick photo before heading straight to the Loboc River.

The river cruise was really fun because you get to see the entire river while listening to music, and there’s even someone serenading you like a Harana as you sail. And of course, the most exciting part—the food buffet! The boat also stopped at a spot where local performers showcased their cultural dances. They performed for all the tourists sailing along the river.

Bohol was truly fun and amazing. The nature and adventures here are really worth experiencing. Bohol has so much to offer—there are plenty of tourist spots you can enjoy and discover.

These were fun-filled moments for us. It’s always worth it and enjoyable every time we travel together because we get to discover more about ourselves along the way.
