My Experience from Adolescence to Adulthood

It is worth noting that as teenagers we want to do the things that adults do, but it turns out that adolescence is the most wonderful stage of any person’s life – for example, primary and secondary school – during which our parents’ main concern is that we study to secure our future, because everything we study is for our own sake and we think it is something that does not benefit us in any way.

However, as we move into adulthood, we are faced with many responsibilities, such as studying at university and working to get ahead in life. I remember that when I finished secondary school, I didn’t go straight to university; I worked for almost four years, and then I did a three-year degree in Computer Science. I thought that when I graduated I would get a job in the private sector, but I wasn’t that lucky.

I also felt like a failure, but then I started my own business, working from home on various IT projects. I carried on like that for over five years, but I needed a better job with better benefits, such as insurance, social security and a pension. That’s why I studied to become a teacher for four years, and during that time I took part in a competitive selection process and was chosen to work for an agency within the Ministry of Education.

I then continued working at this institution and undertook another postgraduate course to further my professional development. Today, I feel satisfied that I have achieved all my goals; however, over the last few years, the situation has changed completely for all staff, whose employment benefits have been eroded over time. Nevertheless, I remain hopeful that this situation will change soon and that things will return to how they were before.
I hope you liked it, see you in a next post.
