Gracias, apreciado lector

Receive my greetings, friends of the Holos& Lotus community, I gladly accept the invitation from @holos-lotus which you can read here, where in his creative writing challenge he asks us to do it about Pachamama Day. Honoring the beauty and abundance of mother earth is necessary.

I was born in the concrete jungle, Caracas. My oldest memories are full of concrete, granite floors, walls, sidewalks, paved roads, that made up the gray environment of the route to go to school. I was about five years old when we stayed a few days in Maracay, at my grandmother's house, and I discovered that abundant hot yellow dust that covered my shoes and inevitably got into my socks.

It was good when they allowed me to wear flip-flops, I took them off to put my feet freely and even play with dirt. It didn't bother me at all and the best thing was that when I fell, which was frequent, I didn't scrape my knees as it happened on the pavement.

Once at home, one day my mother was surprised to go to clean the balcony and find a bit of dirt, which I had hidden to continue playing with it. She told me the story, I don't remember it, what I do know is that the moments where the earth was the predominant element, happiness was greater.

The patios of the houses with their trees, the fields, conucos and small orchards attracted me a lot: a visit to a relative in Yaracuy or Carabobo, who had houses with some land planted with fruit trees was fabulous. The encounter with nature, the smells, flavors, and the wonderful vision that contrasted with what was known was something very special.

I think it is easy to sow attachment to the earth in childhood, the goddess Pachamama is with the children directing their games. I have never met one who does not like the earth, who is not ecstatic seeing it fall from his fingers when he picks it up from the ground and throws it over and over again. Playing with dirt, getting soaked in the rain and splashing in the mud were pleasures for those who could do it and also for those who watched protected from an eaves.

The earth offers the most amazing spectacle that can never be replaced, but we get used to it and stop admiring it, it is true, and the worst thing is that we contribute to its deterioration even without meaning to.

Times have changed and the Pachamama, the one that shows us a future, only if we take care of her, only if we are able to protect her, constantly moans and complains. What a tough time you are going through. What a great affliction that he carries inside. How much crying translated into floods. How much anger turned into landslides. The earth complains, the earth screams.

She asks that the mistreatment towards her cease; the human being in general, who should be thankful for extolling, appreciating and caring above all things, is the same one who has been gradually causing him harm, turning a deaf ear to the perennial cries that he wrings from him. There is no animal on earth that has done as much damage, even in a small part, as the human being does.

Humanity is in danger, there is already talk of its extinction, but the politicians of the day are focused on protecting their power, their wealth, and continue to assume war as a way of seeking peace.

We are on a bus without a brake and insulting the driver. Climate changes are becoming more visible but it seems that there is no concern about it, the so-called developed countries are still fighting to defend their particular interests and there is no awareness of an urgent problem that concerns everyone.

One of the most relevant aspects has to do with the issue of garbage, every day waste of all kinds is produced, many of them with harmful effects on the earth that are deposited in inappropriate places, also causing contamination of rivers and seas with its consequences. for the life of animal and plant species.

It continues to burn indiscriminately: jungles, hills and any extension of land where vegetation and animal life are lost. The list of damages caused is long. It is discouraging to think that in the near future children will not have the opportunity to grow and play in a habitable space and where it is not even remotely possible to save a little bit of land for them to play with.

Thank you, dear reader

Saludos cordiales.
