IT HURT ME BUT, WE MOVE!

Hello people!
Presented with yet another interesting topic. I've thought of a few cases where I have faced rejection but I dismissed them with the notion that they don't count as such. For me, I rarely ever participate in any activity that will breed rejection(crazy as it is) but I remember one particular occasion stood out for me. Maybe because I did/have something which reminds me of it.

Three years ago, I took the JAMB(Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) examination a second time. The previous year, I had written the exam for the first time, I got a little above the cutoff mark but not enough to get me my course of choice. So, for the next one, I prepared well, read well, held lessons with my brother far into the night and the very next morning, very early, the cycle begin-It was study, study, eat, break, study, sleep. We did that every other day until I took the exam. Before long I had developed a thing for studying especially Physics. I remember being told that I was over doing the study of a thing. My friends would say to me, "No go read book run mad o". It was like a marathon. When I took that exam, I was sure to come out with excellent result which I didn't. The result was great not excellent.

Few months after that, I sat for the post-ume examination (which I didn't study for by the way because I was busy with work) and surprisingly, I made excellent result. I remember how many times my siblings reminded me they were very proud of me. We were sure I'll get the admission.

From this story, you know what happened next right? Well, I didn't get into school. I wasn't even given some other course(which I may not have accepted tho). Nothing! Worse still, I did not sit for examination into some other school. I felt so bad. I don't know if it's appropriate to call this case rejection but then, if I was accepted, then I was?

One of the things that helped me feel better was a letter I write to JAMB - i liked to write sha - which I didn't post to them tho. I've held onto the piece of paper for a long time. I stated all of my grievances therein. A few days later, when I picked up the later to read, I realized that what I wrote was centered on giving them a comeback. The rejection had filled me with a sort of zeal to try again and beat the previous score hands-down. Afterall, no one rejects excellence and i was probably not admitted because some other person's did far better than myself and we're more deserving of the post. So, I promised to brace up and not give them the dis-honour of not taking me in.

Another reason why I could easily deal with the feeling of rejection was because of the book "The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho". It came in handy at that time. There's this phrase that was used widely in the book which is " It is written". I understood that everything that has happened, is happening and will happen is not just because of my work but also because it's the way it should be.

 "qjrE4yyfw5pJD9LKQ1BG3NbSyKTowh8wnMyt99dddua4U41rZmpEeZf2o8BwWGgNBRCrCf9Rmzna4biVLCpU9f9uPbkBv73RzRynuaVKDqeD3ohUhbFD1znr (1).png"

Life would hit you with hundreds of rejections but it isn't the end of the road. Normally, life na trial and error. I'm not the first person to have been rejected neither will I be the last. Everyone has faced it or sometime in their life, they will but I'll only be making a huge mistake if I choose to give up after that. I just keep trying till I get it which I will and truth is, once I do, I may not remember all of the many rejections I have faced.

One other thing, I prepare my mind for the reality of rejection as it helps me develop positive mental attitude.

 "AmRc67RgYaWTamZtjiRVK9pxDgRdg2RtnXmG5dbeGuzK3WNfkBktwpfahjXgofN7JmiYvtMwpCEYq5gpJaUVVFNrBJdVGTpU4dgh5N2o7i9HeCQVUiAtBV5tCCFFT4M5GWvAVab7P6nEnDdBkVcYxvn3ztE1PhNv.webp"

Rejection and the likes of it should be seen as a part of life's growth process and should never be a reason for self-lash and pity. Rather access yourself, brace up and do the needful.
Now, the image I inserted up there may seem totally unrelated but thats whats rejection means to me; a challenge to try again and succeed.

That's about it!
Thank you for reading.
Good-day!

I know how heartbreaking and devasted you must have feel when you get rejected by the school and it happens to me too that I have to go into college of university. Lucky I got the form of the school earlier and I know some rejection are meant to make us achieve greatness in another places or maybe God plans for us is different.

I didn’t like it at first, because I didn’t want college for a school for studying but it’s been great here so far and I love it.

Those images alone are great messages on their own. I had to stay and think over them again and again. Life is indeed a trial and error thing most people won't accept it that way but it is the fact. Rejection can so make someone feel as if life is a game of luck , though that is false, if we press we will succeed, I don't believe in luck. I have seen a lot of rejections and I must confess I know the pains you went through, imagine seeing your mates advancing in education but you are stuck in one place by jamb, not that you were not working as supposed but then the opposite it what you get. if one is not strong he can easily quit with that kind of experience.

I came to realize after critical analysis, that most of the things people were rejected for cost them a lot of effort to prepare. Imagine after all the effort you put in to study only to be disappointed at the end.

But I am glad, you didn't give up, you refused to take a no for an answer but instead prepare for another fight. Though it came to destroy you but you used it as an advantage to build yourself up. That is how life should be. Never give up instead go and prepare and come again. The fact that it didn't work yesterday doesn't not mean it won't today.

I hope you finally got the admission? 🥰

You get this!!!
I've had to dish out so many congratulations and frankly I think am the last woman standing.

Like, the way I studied that year, never have I ever done so before. I studied to a point that it felt odd after the exam not to read. It became so much fun. You know, when you begin to get good at solving problems, it becomes interesting. That was my case.

There's no space for giving up. The idea would never even pop up in my head.
I've not gotten the admission yet tho. A few things came to play since then😊

It is going to be alright soon dear.
This one you mentioned solving problems you must be very good at physic and mathematics then😁, I don't like those their problems, X got missing since which year, uptil now it has not been found😂.

I am glad you don't have any plans of giving up at all, not now, not later. If you keep going that way, the sky will only be your beginning.

What Happened with the admission, do you mind to share? 🙃😉🥰

You've probably been looking for X in the wrong places. Shey you used a duser to erase the problem on the board? Check the sister... X go de there. 😂😂

I don't mind sharing.
Like I wrote in the post, I wasn't admitted.
For the next year, I did quite well(obviously, not as well as I did in 2019 but enough to get me my course of choice but I was given a different course which I rejected(apparently, the school just added Medicine as a course so politics was at play... Am certain about this Sha). E fit be say they pick people wey do well pass me Sha but that wasn't the case.

And then for last year's own, I missed out on the registration due to NIN wahala.

Right now, am counting on this year. Na list I de wait for.

So my dear, na so e be😊

You are absolutely right with the write-up, life will always throw rejection towards us but we should not let weigh us down, rather we should brace up and do the needful. Actually, rejection isn't good at all but when it comes it's not the end of life, it's telling us to do better I also had similar experience back in the days when I'm seeking for admission into higher institution, I wrote JAMB three (3) times it was at the third time I was offered admission not because I didn't passed in the previous one but I was rejected twice and this makes me to work even harder, it really helped a lot though it's not easy during those period of rejection most especially when you see your mates that are not good as you are gaining admission into higher institution and you are being rejected. God has reasons for everything happening to us, even there are many notable people in our society that has been rejected sometimes but yet they didn't give up, one of them is the president of Nigeria presently he was rejected three consecutive times before he elected as the president of the nation on the fourth trial, had it been he has given up on the third time he wouldn't be where he was now.
Just as you said, life is about trials and errors so we need to keep trying until we get to our destination above all we must not loose hope over anything but believe that better days are coming. So, don't give up on your academic pursuit and you will surely succeed.

You sure understand it! Everything happens for a reason. I alone will lose out if I give up.

Almost everyone knows just how much it hurts to apply to a school and have them reject you. Especially when you have spent a lot in preparation. But then, one is never to give up. You did the right thing.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
