No One Wants To Eat Losses

avatar

Hey JessTraders

Regardless of what you invest your time and money in, it could be a business, stocks, bonds, real estate, education, money markets, forex and more. No one gets into these spaces to eat losses, but sadly 50% of people have to lose. On the side of every winning trade, you make is a loser. We might not see them or know who they are, but someone has to eat the losses of a trade.

In an ideal world those who are poor capital allocators get wiped out, they are then more conservative, and those who are great capital allocators get rewarded. However, with a fiat money system, we've now found ways for poor capital allocators to take an unlimited risk.

How can you lose when the government backstops you? When you're in the banking space, you are deemed too big to fail and use this to leverage moral hazard to keep going.

A world without losses

Winning and losing is part of life, and when you try to mess with that balance, you may get away with it for a while, but eventually, the results come back ten times worse. The losses don't go away; they get piled up or shipped onto someone else books like a toxic waste dump.

We now live in a world where those who have won before have no right to lose and have left pensions underfunded and banks over-leveraged and forced governments to continue to steal through tax and inflation to keep losses at bay.

Everyone gets the system they deserve

As someone who has had to deal with the way the world works, as I watch the rest of my peers do the same, we're all complicit in this crime against humanity. Be it through conformity, ignorance or some other justification. It doesn't matter; we've all followed the script to keep this system upright and functioning.

I've begun to deleverage from the system using Bitcoin and in a small way, I say no I don't want this for myself. I am voting with my value and not with my political vote, which means nothing.

If the system stays the way it is, it's not because the powers that be make it this way but because the majority allow it to govern them and I am not willing to give into

The unintended consequences

What we also don't see is how shifting losses compound. When we have one part of society with all the decision making power and the financial backing, we allow only a few to have their ideas put in to play at scale. The fact that we have Facebook and Google and other monopolies mean we've lost so many potential companies that would have taken up the market share.

Instead of consolidating the best engineers in one company, they would compete in a landscape to give consumers the best and cheapest products and services.

While monopolies aren't inherently wrong, we've allowed them to reach a point where their systematic failure brings everyone down.

The losses are seen as too great, and therefore we're not willing to eat the losses for a better future.

I don't see much changing and it seems like we'll have business as usual and we'll patch it up and keep going. I can't change the world only the way I see it, I can't change the system only hedge against it.

Have your say

The majority basically allows it to remain this way simply because all the other choices are tainted. I believe monopolistic phenomenon allows people to be ultimate losers and this is the place where I say they always win majorly we're left to wallow in their losses.

Yes, they are tainted, I don't think any option doesn't come with some sort of trade-off but if people don't make those different decisions then we all stuck in the same boat as we are now and wondering why we're all sinking.

Absolutely, I believe a monopoly is more a showcase of the failure of the market than anything else,it shouldn't be applauded, some may last for a while but when they get big enough they move slow and often get picked off but that hasn't been the case with the government protection these big businesses have these days

We're all eating the losses of bad policy through inflation whether we want to see and accept it or not, I am just trying to stop as much of the bleeding as I can

Time invested in education is always a win. Self education... Even better

I agree with self-education, I think the current education system is producing a pretty overpriced product that doesn't offer value for money. Self-education for sure is key if you can learn what you need to unlearn and continue to have a thirst for knowledge and curiosity then you will always win, just make sure its invaluable info, not all info is created equal.

BUt then again we live in a world where celeb gossip can get you paid more than knowing physics or math so I don't know if these rules still apply lol

I think it pays long term to think about personal growth which is totally unrelated to money. I believe in self education a lot, the thirst for knowledge should be greater than that for money, fame or validation

Absolutely, having inner peace and happiness, contentment for your surroundings and a passion for certain things is what we should strive for, but hey doing it in a comfy environment helps lol I happen to like having a roof over my head and food in the fridge other than that I couldn't care, I can sleep on the floor and ill be fine

I think the same. To have a roof over your head matters the most and also to be safe. To not have to deal with abuse. Better to sleep on a floor alone with no mattress and have peace of mind rather than to be in a comfy bed but be miserable and with the wrong people
