PHCTOP - My Top 3 Spooky Characters - October Edition

avatar

It's already Spooktober and people are getting into the Halloween mood with scary movies being the order of the day on every single movie TV channel or streaming service will be flogging their back catalogue of horror movies.

So seeing as all these memorable or rather deeply scaring characters are now coming out of all their dark corners I've decided to share my three favourites or rather the ones that freaked me out the most.

1.Freddy Krueger

Freddy and his fingers were my first experience with a character that really frightened me and haunted my dreams. Freddy Krueger is a character from the A Nightmare on Elm Street film and is a spirit of a serial killer who uses a gloved hand with razors to kill his victims in their dreams, causing their deaths in the real world as well.

So you can pretty much tell why sleepless nights came after watching these films. If your bed and under your blankets isn't a safe place anymore, then what is a safe place?

2. Valak the defiler

The creature was Valak, an eldritch and inhuman entity also known as "the defiler" or "the marquis of snakes." First spotted in the Conjuring series before getting its own spin-off title, the idea of a demonic entity taking the form of a religious person is one that really gets to the audience.

If a member of the church cannot be kept safe from demonic possession then who would be? The nuns look is creepy and for someone who grew up in a catholic school it does seem extra disturbing.

3. Gage Creed

Hands down the creepiest character for me and always gives me the heebie geebies. Cage William Creed (or simply Gage) is one of the main antagonists from the 1983 book, Pet Sematary by Stephen King. He was the 3-year-old son of Louis and Rachel Creed, and the younger brother of Ellie. He starts out as a cute innocent little boy and then turns into a demonic entity with murderous intent.

If someone so pure can be corrupted to kill without a second thought, I don't think anything or anyone is safe.

Lol I don’t know if you misspelled it or I misread but I saw chicky not Chucky and I was like yes those Chicky meals were horrid it was a wack version of a happy meal lol

I would say for me the Tokoloshis that work at home affairs or any banks would be the soul sucking vampires I fear most like just because you lost your soul doesn’t mean you have to kill mine

LOL these horror stories literally take everything and flip it on its head, I guess that’s what makes them so memorable!

Great choices @chekohler!! I hate to admit it I haven't watched the Conjuring or the Pet Semetery movie. It's hard to find time to watch stuff when the hubby is not around. It takes me 4 months just to watch a season of American Horror Story LOL
I had a hard time not picking all Stephen King characters. He does amazing character development. Gage Creed the perfect example. To go from a normal 3 year old to what he becomes. I almost chose Christine for this. I know the movie doesn't show much, but in the books she is fully described and characterized WOW.

Thanks, lol I don't often watch horrors since they are usually poorly made but ever so often one comes along that has your arm pits sweaty and your sphincter clenched and you have to give them credit :P

Well, I think Stephen King is a bit loopy, to say the least, no normal mind could think of all the stories he managed to craft. The movies are good but they are cleaned up a fair bit from the real darkness and macabre nature in which King writes.

Another truly horrifying roundup! I'm pretty sure Nightmare on Elm Street was the first horror movie I really watched any big part of, and it had a big impact on my sleep for a long time after, as well. I will say one of my guilty pleasures this time of year is watching some of the Halloween-themed shows on the Food Network. I just saw a preview for the Haunted Gingerbread Challenge and it looks like Freddy is the theme for one of the weeks. Can't wait to see him in gingerbread form!

I can't even watch the previews for the Conjuring. That's how freaked out I get by the nun. Makes me want to turn around and see what's behind me just looking at that photo!

Gage is a perfect choice, as well. I thought the kid did too good of a job selling that! I think I told someone on another one of the posts that Zelda always scared the crap out of me, as well. Stephen King knows how to create some killer characters! Good luck in the poll and thanks for joining!

LOL thanks I’m glad you liked my picks! So I don’t look like a big old sissy for being freaked out by then

Halloween is really all about the sugar rush isn’t it? But I’d like to see ginger bread ghouls and demons too

I loved the original Gage well I mean loved as in he did an amAzing job! I couldn’t get myself to watch the 2019 remake because I don’t want to the ruin the memory of the character lol and perhaps not go through all that again
