A Friend I’ll Never Forget | Reflections on True Friendship
Hello, everyone. I hope you’re all doing well. Today, I’d like to share with you one of the most precious memories of my life—the story of a friend I’ll never forget.
When I first started attending this school, my life wasn’t easy. I didn’t know anyone and was always alone. I walked alone, sat alone in class, and had no one to share my joys or sorrows with. Loneliness was part of my daily life.
One day, during breakfast break, I went out to get something to eat. Four students approached me. One of them said to me, “Give me some money.” When I replied that I didn’t have any, he pushed me, and another one even slapped me. At that moment, I felt immense sadness and a lot of fear.
However, in the midst of this difficult situation, there was one person with a big heart. A boy named Abdullahi, who was part of the group, said:
“Leave him alone; he’s like your brother.”
He showed me a kindness I hadn’t expected. When the others left, Abdullahi came over to me, kissed me on the forehead, and said:
“I’m sorry for what my friends did to you. ”
I’ll never forget those words or that compassion.
After that incident, I was afraid to go outside during breaks. I often stayed alone in the classroom, thinking back on what had happened.
One day, Abdullahi saw me sitting alone in the classroom. He said to me:
“Salam, my brother. Why are you sitting here all alone? ”
I didn’t say much in reply. Then he added:
“My name is Abdullahi. And you, what’s your name?”
After I told him my name, he replied:
“Nice to meet you. ”
The next day, he came back to see me while I was still alone. With a sincere smile, he said to me:
“Come with me. Starting today, I’ll be your friend.”
Hearing those words, I felt deeply moved and filled with joy. I had finally found someone who understood me, respected me, and supported me.
Abdullahi became the best friend I’ve ever had. He always understood me and constantly encouraged me. One day, we went on a field trip with two girls and another boy. Each person had to pay $70, but I only had $3 in my account.
While I was worried and thinking about how to come up with the money, Abdullahi called me. Shortly afterward, we were told that the trip fees had been paid. When I asked who had paid, I was told:
“Abdullahi paid for it.”
At that moment, I realized that true friendship isn’t based on self-interest, but on love, respect, and support.
When we finished our studies, on graduation day, Abdullahi cried a lot because he knew we were going to part ways. People tried to comfort him, but the pain of leaving a true friend was too great.
Even today, Abdullahi remains the most precious friend I have ever met. I will never forget him. I’ve learned that true friends never truly leave our hearts, even when time and distance separate us.
My Reflection
In life, you can acquire great wealth, success, and recognition. But never forget the friends who stood by you through the hardest times. Because the people who stay by your side when you’re alone are the ones who most deserve to remain in your heart.
“No matter what wealth or success you achieve in life, never forget the friends who shared the hard times with you. Time may separate people, but the memories of a true friendship never fade.
