LET’S DEFEAT THE DISTANCE

Romantic relationships especially ones in LDRs (Long Distance Relationships) came first to mind when I saw the theme this week. Being in one at the moment I decided not to go through that context as I might well up. Kidding. LOL

Then a request for a cover of Gabrielle’s Rise came from @celticheartbeat.
I remembered how lovely the song was after looking it up. You see, whenever Gabrielle is mentioned, the song "Out of Reach" naturally springs to mind. The chords were in my favour as well, and I've finally found something to present this week. Woooop!

MY TAKE

By overcoming a toxic, unhealthy relationship and making the decision to pass the distance from not being all right to being okay, we may be able to prevent losing ourselves completely in sorrow and bitterness. It's never easy to imagine how we can succeed, but the important thing is to make the decision to rise and succeed while remaining persistent.

ABOUT THE SONG

Aiming to encourage listeners to realize that with perseverance, an excellent outcome is possible, Gabrielle's Rise tells the story of how she got back up after her life fell apart. Looking more closely, it appears that Gabrielle did approach Bob Dylan and request permission to utilize parts of his song, which Bob Dylan happily agreed to for the first time. That explains why the song's strongly similar of Bob Dylan's Knockin' On Heaven's Door, particularly the beginning part. To be honest, If I had not read about it, I wouldn’t have known.

Song Title: Rise
By: Gabrielle
Lyrics Source: here

Lyrics

I know that it's over
But I can't believe we're through
They say that time's a healer, yeah
And I'm better without you
It's gonna take time, I know
But I'll get over you
Look at my life
Look at my heart
I have seen them fall apart
Now I'm ready to rise again
Just look at my hopes
Look at my dreams
I'm building bridges from these scenes
Now I'm ready to rise again

Caught up in my thinking, yeah
Like a prisoner in my mind
You pose so many questions
That the truth was hard to find
I better think twice I know
That I'll get over you

Look at my life
Look at my heart
I have seen them fall apart
Now I'm ready to rise again
Just look at my hopes
Look at my dreams
I'm building bridges from these scenes
Now I'm ready to rise again

Much time has passed between us, hmm
Do you still think of me at all?
My world of broken promises
You won't catch me when I fall

Look at my life
Look at my heart
I have seen them fall apart
And now I'm ready to rise again
Just look at my hopes
Look at my dreams
I'm building bridges from these scenes
Now I'm ready to rise again

Yes, I'm gonna rise
Gonna make it alright
I'm gonna be who I wanna be
Yeah baby, yeah, yeah

I'm gonna make it alright

I'm gonna make it alright...

Thank you @celticheartbeat. If it were not for your request, I wouldn’t have remembered this beautiful song.

Thank you @karlex77 for the wonderful theme this week.

Thank you @hiveopenmic

I like the fact that you structured this post into headings giving us an easy access to grasping the point. I always love what you do Chichi because you always exact great passion in your works.
It is really better to back off from a toxic relationship than remain and be in pains.
Excellent interpretation my friend. You rock!!

Great choice! And the fact that it's based on Bob Dylan's famous song makes it an ideal candidate for a medley or even a sing-over.
Sounding lovely!

These Gabrielle songs suit you really well ,keep them coming :).

I didn't know about the connection to Dylans knocking on heavens door , that is pretty interesting.

Wow! I was pretty sure I didn't know both singer and song until I got to your lyrics and I remembered the words...... Used to always hear my sister singing this song sometime in the early-mid 2000s. Think it might have been a different version tho, wasn't so calm
