Desde hace unos años hemos visto como ha mejorado la participación de la mujer en la sociedad y se le ha tomado en cuenta para ocupar cargos que anteriormente eran exclusivamente para hombres, ya que siempre se ha visto a la mujer como figura doméstica, sin duda alguna este progreso fortalece los principios de igualdad y justicia social ante los hombres. Sin embargo, seguimos siendo vulnerables a ser víctimas de cualquier tipo de agresión, es por ello que la violencia de género se considera un problema de salud pública y de violación de los derechos humanos.

Venezuela no escapa de esta realidad mundial y vemos que muchas mujeres son violentadas por sus esposos principalmente, pero también por sus padres, hermanos, jefes, amigos, etc. Es triste ver que muchos de estos casos no llegan a ser denunciados ante los entes encargados de hacer justicia, es más aun vemos algunas mujeres, culparse porque sus maridos las golpean, a mi parecer no debemos dejar pasar ninguna agresión, ya que se vuelve un círculo vicioso de agredir y perdonar.

It is sad to see that many of these cases are not denounced to the entities responsible for justice, even more we see some women blame themselves because their husbands beat them, in my opinion we should not let any aggression pass, as it becomes a vicious circle of attacking and forgiving.

En mi país encontramos hay muchas fundaciones y entes gubernamentales donde podemos acudir en caso de sufrir algún tipo de violencia de género, tal es el caso del Instituto Nacional de la Mujer (INAMUJER), que es un organismo que trabaja en pro de la igualdad de derecho y de hecho entre venezolanas y venezolanos, por lo cual brinda asesoría y apoyo a las mujeres para que conozcan las leyes que las protegen.

El objetivo primordial de dicha Ley es prevenir, controlar, sancionar y erradicar la violencia contra la mujer y velar por la igualdad de sus derechos ante el hombre y protección a la familia y cada uno de sus miembros.

Podemos acudir también a los entes policiales para formular la denuncia o a la Dirección para la Defensa de la Mujer en la Fiscalia Superior, que por cierto el pasado 13 de septienbre llevo a cabo una actividad denominada el Parcantazo con el fin de concientizar a las mujeres a no dejar que sean violentados sus derechos.
