New Year Celebration: Pros And Cons in my Locality

New Year Celebration also know as New year festival is a celebration for the beginning of a new year. It is something that everyone is happy about. The first day of the year where everybody all over the world come together as a family friend, spouse, siblings, etc to celebrate, enjoy themselves, be happy and pray for blessings in the year.

They wish for good things to happen to them and the ones they love, for success in their businesses and also success in life.
In some places they practice their culture and depict cultural attires traditions customs and celebrations.

Locally, in my place, people practice the tradition of burning tires and all unwanted properties and trash. This is a traditional belief that as they do so it scares demons away from following them to the new year, shooting of knock-outs, fireworks, starlight, dancing and merrying and also praying for a new and better life in the new year.

Sadly, this undoubtedly has cause great damages to the Ozon Layer, the soil, and to man. Carbon which is the main agent that causes Ozon Layer depletion is deposited in the Air, soil and water bodies from it's sources such as; Tires, synthetic chemicals, fuel burning,etc.

Burning tires increase the presence of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC's) which is bad to both plants and animals. Yet, some persons grow blind to the fact of this Danger.

All in the name of celebration, some people damage the soil with carbon deposits from tires. Man truly is ruining the Earth.

Every where you go, by the roads, streets, junctions and even is some homes, the practice of burning tires as a new yesr festival is being carried out in my place.

Dangers

• The more this particular traditional belief of burning tires midnight (12:00am or 1:00am) to scare demons from entering the new year continues, the more the holes on the Ozon Layer expands.

• Soil fertility is compromised and farmers need to use fertilizers to a better yield.

• Lung diseases may occur due to inhalation of these toxic substances.

• It can lead to a global warming.

• Death of essentially minerals and organisms in the soil.

• Air, water and land pollution.

• Death of plants, animals and eventually humans

How You And I Can Help

Some quantity of Carbon is necessary to Life. Yet, over the years, excess amounts of carbon deposits and other Ozon Layer depletion Agents are skyrocketing.
We are not left out. We can help fix these.

• Growing of new plants, afforestation and reforestation.
• Bush burning, deforestation and uncontrolled burning should be discouraged.

• Archaic traditional beliefs and celebrations (like burning tires) should be curbed and brought to eventual Stop.
• Factories, organization and companies should employ other means of electricity than just fuel burning.
• Compulsory Burning and combustion should be done in closed systems to prevent escape of carbons to the atmosphere.

We can breath fresher air, drink cleaner water, avoid polluting the soil, and live a new and better Life every new year
