Blue skies, yello trees and silver walls. That's how it was in Roberta's reality. It was one she's had to live in for a very long time, and yes, it was a really long time. Her spaceship had been traveling for almost a decade now and it was surprising that she was still right on course.

Volunteering to go on this quest had been her biggest dream and she was lucky her underpaid reporter father was always there to support her. At the age of two she became diagnosed with Nemphopilisis, a disease that hit the pupils directly. It was a lot like color blindness but in this case the infected could only see the colors, blue, yellow and silver.

Roberta had no issues with her condition but it wasn't easy for her going to school. She wasn't like the other kids and it became a problem when her teachers started to share concerns of how well she'll do in a class filled with almost normal kids. By second grade, she found herself being home schooled.

Then one day, she saw it, her dad had brought home a magazine that had a picture that she considered the most beautiful thing in her life. It was a space man on the moon, and he was standing beside a well grown tree. She couldn't understand why it struck her so much but she knew that she'd found her dream.

Years later, here she was onboard the silver MT 1097 space craft, filled with natural trees and grasses that she'd tended to for years and a quest to make it to Earth 2 and discover whatever adventure and beautiful prospects it held for everyone.

"Attention!, Arriving destination in three days"

"Attention!, Arriving destination in three days"

Total Blackness......

Beep, beep, beep

Roberta opened her eyes slowly, everything had happened so fast. The venting system had broken after impact with an unknown object. What followed was a series of panic, system malfunction and a heavy crash.

She scrutinized her body to make sure she was in one piece. She certainly was but her space craft didn't look so good. It had crash landed safely on an open beach, from what she could see from the broken screen.

She kicked down the exit door and slowly made her way towards what could be their new home. Gentle breeze, and mesmerizing waves of the blue ocean hit her, the heat from the sand sent warm sensations flying to her legs and the rays of the sun greeted her directly and made the sand shine like it had silver peebles in it. Yellow trees could be heard singing from a distance as the breeze gave them rhythm.

She took off her helmet and breathed in the air, it was smooth and she immediately fell into a Goan trance. Then a sound startled her, she looked and found a red looking creature crawling carefree out of the sea. It had the face of a chipmunk and the body of a fish. It had fins and gills and it whistled in happiness.

The blue skies wasn't any different from her home, but when it merged with the sky it looked like a Leonardo Da vinci painting, so real yet so unreal. Orange colored birds drew an arc around it and it was at that moment that Roberta realized that her disease didn't exist in this new world.

What an interesting sci-fi tale, @chincoculbert. It was surprising when she could see something red, but that was of course the clue that her condition was no longer a problem on the new planet.

Thank your for sharing your imaginative work in The Ink Well and for reading and commenting on the work of other community members.

At last, she can see the full range of colors. But I couldn't help thinking that must have been a long 10 years, if she had to travel that whole time to another planet without any companionship! Anyway, I love your imagination. Wouldn't it be great if one day they find another planet that is similar to Earth?

Dear @chincoculbert, we need your help!

The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community. However, it lost its funding few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.

Your support would be really helpful and you could make the difference! Thank you!

What a great ending. The detail of her disease makes perfect sense to lead to this moment.
