The Sea Beast || Another Jonah Story, A must watch.

I never ever thought too much about the story of Jonah and I certainly didn't believe that it could happen in 2022, but it surely did and this time it happened in animation. You know me, I'm totally in love with animation and would surely recommend the best ones to you all.

I was so bored yesterday until my guy informed me that he'd downloaded this movie, he's certainly my movie plug and keeps me up to date. I certainly didn't know what to expect, they had been no spoilers for me and I didn't see any trailers. It helped ease into the movie because there wasn't too much to expect.

The movie actually depicts most of the things we have going on in our society today. Most of us are just born to a certain way of life that was instilled upon us by the generations past, we have been brain washed into believing whatever stories were were read to or told while growing up and this actually shaped us to be the individuals we are today.

Some were made to believe that a certain race is superior to the order, or a certain color doesn't deserve to experience luxury, a lot of this misnomers were some of the things tried to point out. We all can actually coexist if we atleast get to know and understand each other instead of taking drastic decisions based on our obligations.

I certainly enjoyed this one and I like the fact that it had a moral and it went on to show us that we can actually experience friendship, genuine friendship and the love that comes with companionship.

The movie is an animation adventure directed by Chris Williams who co-wrote it with Nell Benjamin. It was released on the 22nd of June, 2022 in theaters and on July 8 it debuted on Netflix.

It stars the voices of Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and runs for 119 minutes. So far so good it has received a lot of positive reviews and I'm certain it might get some great nominations in the future.

Plot

It tells the story of how sea monsters have made life pretty miserable for mankind. A lot of people fear the sea because most times they always didn't make it back alive. This went on for a while until a group of sailors who'd had enough came together to hunt the creatures, they called themselves hunters.

The most famous of the hunters were "the inevitable" who had been through a lot of adventures and made it back. On this very occasion, The captain and his crew gets attacked by the Red Blister, one of the fiercest of this sea monsters who the captain had swore to kill.

Certain situations deter them from killing the monster but they actually ended up killing another which they took to the King. They King furious decides to send another group of people to go kill the monster but then they're faced with a lot of challenges.

A little girl ends up making decisions that'll help that'll change history forever, she and Jacob become swallowed up in the mouth of the Red Blister and they end up finding out that most of the unnerving war between the human race and the sea beasts had only been fabricated to help push the crown.

Would the continuous circle of man hunting beast and beast eating man ever end? You'll have to find out for yourself, the spoilers end here, hehe. Some of the main characters are

Jacob Holland

Lost in sea he gets rescued by the Captain of the Inevitable who takes him as he son. He grows to love adventure and becomes a successful hunter. Being one the main character, his decisions would cause a lot of surprises. How can an hunter who's lived all his life hunting this creatures stop himself from carrying out the tasks he'd been born to do.

I'm particularly over joyed with this character creation. His accent was on point and who more to deliver than (The boy's Butcher) Karl Urban. He killed it for me, his voice depicted the character and it gave so much joy to watch.

Maisie Brumble

This little girl's parents get killed in a voyage and she's forced to go live in a foster home but she'll not have it. She's full of joy and dreams to one day become an hunter. She was quite instrumental in bringing about a change in history. She's a magical and always speaks up for what is right. She has a way of piercing right into your soul with her words.

Her character brought this movie to life and I loved her voice, so lively and contagious, lol. I don't know who wrote the dialog but her questions were always humorous and very on point.

Captain Crow

Scarred by the past, he'd swore on his life to kill the red beast and he turned from an overjoyed leader to an obsessed person who would do anything to have his way. He surprisingly took decisions he never thought he would and this makes things complicated.

I loved what they did with his character, a very strong character that adds action to the movie.

Sarah Sharpe

Her name depicts how sharp she was, one of the members of the crew that really stood out. She always wore this grim expression that was sometimes scary but deep down she had a good heart and made sure she stood for what she believed in.

My take on the movie

It is actually a great story even though I was craving for more, I needed to see more action or a simple twist that'll change things but I'm guessing they didn't want the movie to prolong. But it was a really nice story and I loved what they did with the characters and especially the voice casts were on point.

The animation was really good, loved what they did with the colors and the beasts looked ok, they didn't over do it and that's nice but most of all I was glad that there was a moral to the story and I believe that a lot of people need to watch this one.

It was quite enjoyable and I'll recommend it to you anytime. I'll also rate it a 9/10, surely well deserving.

Nunca pensé demasiado en la historia de Jonás y ciertamente no creía que pudiera suceder en 2022, pero seguramente lo hizo y esta vez sucedió en animación. Ya me conocéis, estoy totalmente enamorada de la animación y seguramente os recomendaría a todos los mejores.

Ayer estaba muy aburrida hasta que mi chico me informó de que se había descargado esta película, sin duda es mi enchufe de cine y me mantiene al día. Desde luego no sabía qué esperar, no me habían hecho ningún spoiler y no vi ningún tráiler. Me ayudó a entrar en la película porque no había mucho que esperar.

La película describe la mayoría de las cosas que ocurren en nuestra sociedad hoy en día. La mayoría de nosotros nacemos con un cierto estilo de vida que nos inculcaron las generaciones pasadas, nos han lavado el cerebro para que creamos cualquier historia que nos leyeron o nos contaron mientras crecíamos y esto nos ha hecho ser los individuos que somos hoy.

A algunos se les hizo creer que una determinada raza es superior al orden, o que un determinado color no merece experimentar el lujo, muchas de estas falsas creencias fueron algunas de las cosas que se intentaron señalar. En realidad todos podemos coexistir si al menos nos conocemos y entendemos en lugar de tomar decisiones drásticas basadas en nuestras obligaciones.

Ciertamente disfruté de este libro y me gustó el hecho de que tuviera una moraleja y nos mostrara que realmente podemos experimentar la amistad, la amistad genuina y el amor que viene con el compañerismo.

Argumento

Cuenta la historia de cómo los monstruos marinos han hecho la vida bastante miserable a la humanidad. Mucha gente le teme al mar porque la mayoría de las veces no lograba regresar con vida. Esto duró un tiempo hasta que un grupo de marineros hartos se unieron para cazar a las criaturas, se llamaban a sí mismos cazadores.

Los más famosos de los cazadores eran "los inevitables", que habían pasado por muchas aventuras y habían conseguido volver. En esta misma ocasión, el capitán y su tripulación son atacados por el Ampolla Roja, uno de los más feroces de estos monstruos marinos al que el capitán había jurado matar.

Ciertas situaciones los disuaden de matar al monstruo, pero acaban matando a otro que llevan al Rey. El Rey, furioso, decide enviar a otro grupo de personas para que vayan a matar al monstruo, pero entonces se enfrentan a un montón de retos.

Una niña acaba tomando decisiones que ayudarán a cambiar la historia para siempre, ella y Jacob se ven envueltos en la boca de la Ampolla Roja y acaban descubriendo que la mayor parte de la desconcertante guerra entre la raza humana y las bestias marinas sólo había sido fabricada para ayudar a impulsar la corona.

¿Terminará alguna vez el círculo continuo del hombre cazando a la bestia y la bestia comiendo al hombre? Tendrás que descubrirlo por ti mismo, los spoilers terminan aquí, jeje. Algunos de los personajes principales son

Jacob Holland

Perdido en el mar es rescatado por el Capitán del Inevitable que lo toma como hijo. Crece con el amor a la aventura y se convierte en un exitoso cazador. Siendo uno de los protagonistas, sus decisiones causarán muchas sorpresas. Cómo puede un cazador que ha vivido toda su vida cazando a estas criaturas dejar de realizar las tareas para las que ha nacido.

Estoy particularmente encantado con la creación de este personaje. Su acento estaba en su punto y quién más para entregarlo que (el Butcher del chico) Karl Urban. Para mí lo ha hecho genial, su voz ha representado al personaje y ha dado mucha alegría al verlo.

Maisie Brumble

Los padres de esta niña mueren en un viaje y ella se ve obligada a ir a vivir a una casa de acogida, pero no lo va a permitir. Está llena de alegría y sueña con convertirse algún día en cazadora. Ella fue bastante decisiva para lograr un cambio en la historia. Es mágica y siempre defiende lo que es correcto. Tiene una forma de penetrar en tu alma con sus palabras.

Su personaje dio vida a esta película y me encantó su voz, tan viva y contagiosa, lol. No sé quién escribió los diálogos, pero sus preguntas eran siempre humorísticas y muy acertadas.

Capitán Cuervo

Marcado por el pasado, juró por su vida matar a la bestia roja y pasó de ser un líder exaltado a una persona obsesionada que haría cualquier cosa para salirse con la suya. Sorprendentemente tomó decisiones que nunca pensó que tomaría y esto hace que las cosas se compliquen.

Me encantó lo que hicieron con su personaje, un personaje muy fuerte que añade acción a la película.

Sarah Sharpe

Su nombre describe lo aguda que era, uno de los miembros de la tripulación que realmente destacaba. Siempre llevaba esa expresión sombría que a veces daba miedo, pero en el fondo tenía un buen corazón y se aseguraba de defender lo que creía.

Mi opinión sobre la película

La verdad es que es una gran historia aunque me quedé con ganas de más, necesitaba ver más acción o un simple giro que cambiara las cosas pero supongo que no querían que la película se prolongara. Pero fue una historia muy bonita y me encantó lo que hicieron con los personajes y sobre todo el reparto de voces estuvo en su punto.

La animación fue muy buena, me encantó lo que hicieron con los colores y las bestias se veían bien, no se excedieron y eso es bueno pero sobre todo me alegró que hubiera una moraleja en la historia y creo que mucha gente necesita ver esta.

Fue bastante disfrutable y la recomiendo en cualquier momento. También la calificaré con un 9/10, seguramente bien merecido.
