Potamia is one of the most beautiful beaches I know on Tassos. The beach is extremely long and locals say that the whole thing is an artificial beach, because it is a beach that has been filled up. That means sand was brought there especially to create it artificially.

The beauty of this beach is that the water does not go down directly or very quickly, but can still run out for a very long time. This is why it is particularly popular with families, as children can stand in the water here. Accordingly, a lot of hotels have settled there and here in the photos you can see how a construction project was probably started wrongly.

A kind of artificial river or artificial pond was created here. The problem is that the water does not flow properly or the water level is too low, so that reeds and a lot of algae have grown in this area. You can also see in person that the whole thing is a bit run down, for example because the lanterns that you see on the left have not been fixed properly etc.. Either the whole thing is still under construction, whereby I could not see any construction signs or barriers, or the whole thing has been more or less abandoned. The algae layer is extremely thick and they have tried to drain the water a bit by laying a pipe, but it doesn't work.

Potamia ist einer der schönsten Strände, die ich auf Tassos kenne. Der Strand ist extrem lang und Einheimische sagen, das Ganze sei ein ermogelter Strand, weil es sich dabei um einen aufgeschütteten Strand handelt. Das heißt Sand wurde extra dorthin gebracht um diesen künstlich zu erstellen.

Das Schöne an diesem Strand ist, dass das Wasser nicht direkt oder sehr schnell nach unten geht, sondern noch sehr sehr lange raus rennen kann. Daher ist dieser besonders bei Familien beliebt, da Kinder hier im Wasser stehen können. Entsprechend haben sich dort sehr sehr viele Hotels niedergelassen und hier auf den Fotos sieht man wie ein Bauprojekt vermutlich falsch angegangen worden ist.

Und zwar wurde hier eine Art künstlicher Fluss oder Künstlicher Teich angelegt. Das Problem ist, dass das Wasser hier nicht richtig strömt beziehungsweise die Wasserhöhe zu gering ist und dementsprechend Schilf und viele Algen in diesem Bereich gewachsen sind. Man erkennt zu dem in Persona, dass das Ganze etwas heruntergekommen ist, weil beispielsweise die Laternen, die man links sieht, nicht mehr richtig befestigt worden sind etc..
Entweder ist das Ganze noch im Bau, wobei ich keinerlei Bauschilder oder Absperrungen erkennen konnte, oder das ganze wurde mehr oder weniger aufgegeben. Die Algen Schicht ist extrem dick und man hat versucht das Wasser etwas abzulassen, indem man eine Leitung gelegt hat, die aber nicht funktioniert.
