El día de hoy quise retomar una dinámica de una de mis publicaciones anteriores, en donde presentaba un nuevo personaje original: caracterizado por ser un animal antropomórfico (un personaje animal, con semejanzas a los humanos).

En este caso, decidí ilustrar a una ardilla. Quería que tuviera una historia épica y que formara parte de un ambiente de peleas, por lo que lo presente como un guerrero. También me interesaba que tuviera un color característico, algo que lo hiciera destacar por encima de sus compañeros guerreros, así que coloreé su pelaje de naranja, bautizándolo como: "La Ardilla Naranja de las Montañas".

Así que, sin más preambulos, les presento el paso a paso de este nuevo proyecto. Espero les guste.

Today I wanted to retake a dynamic from one of my previous publications, where I presented a new original character: characterized by being an anthropomorphic animal (an animal character, with similarities to humans).

In this case, I decided to illustrate a squirrel. I wanted him to have an epic story and to be part of a fighting environment, so I presented him as a warrior. I also wanted him to have a characteristic color, something that would make him stand out from his fellow warriors, so I colored his fur orange, christening him "The Orange Squirrel of the Mountains".

So, without further ado, I present to you the step by step of this new project. I hope you like it.

Step by Step:

Primero, comencé con un bosquejo bastante rápido del personaje. Luego, decidí definir mejor su diseño, agregando detalles como su pelaje, espada y rostro en general.

First, I started with a fairly quick sketch of the character. Then, I decided to better define his design, adding details such as his fur, sword and face in general.

Luego, decidí enfocarme en el Line Art, definiendo de manera más clara el diseño y dibujo en general. De esta manera nuestro protagonista estaba listo para ser coloreado. Como siempre, quería jugar mucho con las sombras y el color, por lo que me enfoqué en darle una entrada de luz fuerte y marcada, en donde pudiera resaltar la intensidad de sus ojos y pelaje característico, además de los detalles varios.

Then, I decided to focus on the line art, defining more clearly the design and drawing in general. This way our protagonist was ready to be colored. As always, I wanted to play a lot with shadows and color, so I focused on giving him a strong and marked light input, where I could highlight the intensity of his eyes and fur characteristic, in addition to the various details.

Llegados a este punto, decidí vestir a mi protagonista, ya que sentía que, sin importar que fuera un animal o no, necesitaba llevar al menos una camisa para luchar en batalla. De esta manera, ilustré y coloreé una camisa blanca para que puediese estar presentable ante sus enemigos. Al final, curiosamente, decidí que la camisa fuera algo transparente.

At this point, I decided to dress my protagonist, as I felt that, regardless of whether he was an animal or not, he needed to wear at least one shirt to fight in battle. Thus, I illustrated and colored a white shirt so that he could be presentable in front of his enemies. In the end, oddly enough, I decided to make the shirt somewhat transparent.

Luego, decidí agregar un fondo difuminado que pudiese representar una montaña boscosa, y mi firma en la parte superior del dibujo, dando por culminado mi ilustración.

Then, I decided to add a blurred background that could represent a wooded mountain, and my signature at the top of the drawing, thus completing my illustration.

Y de esta manera, doy por finalizada mi publicación de hoy. Al igual que en la publicación pasada, amé con creces la realización de esta dinámica. Es muy divertido salir de tu zona de confort y jugar con conceptos y mundos completamente distintos a los que acostumbras, por lo que es una práctica que recomiendo y valoro mucho.

And so, this concludes today's post. As in the last post, I thoroughly enjoyed this dynamic. It is so much fun to get out of your comfort zone and play with concepts and worlds completely different from the ones you are used to, so it is a practice that I highly recommend and value.
