Guess where I am today ? =p

IMG_3991.jpg

That's Right, I'm at the Garden right next door to the Zoo at Sequoia Park

IMG_3923.jpg

I was a bright, sunny day today but... the wind was gusting today, a lot.
A simple flower shoot turned complicated O.o

IMG_3917.jpg

Today I'm focusing <,< on the California Golden Poppies that are in full bloom today.
These shot were all taken with a Canon Eos Rebel T7 with the 18 - 55 mm kit lens.

IMG_3918.jpg

Despite the wind I did manage to get a good amount of images, so much so I had to break them into 2 or 3 flower posts.

IMG_3920.jpg

The garden is in full sun right now and these Poppies are glowing bright neon orange.

IMG_3921.jpg

All these images needed heavy dehazing despite me running a polarizer and UV filters.

Above is a shot from the back of the garden looking at the Wishing Well and Gazebo. Most of the garden is not in bloom yet as Spring came late this year, been a cool rainy one so far. Only the the beds that frame the Well are in bloom so far.

IMG_3953.jpg

Among the Golden Poppies are a few of the creamy pale yellow ones that make a nice contrast to the bright orange ones.

IMG_3959.jpg

They fade out to creamy white at the outer pedals

Below is a shot from the front corner. That Palm tree is a little out of place in a redwood park in Northern California lol. This is one of two Palms planted here before I was born, both are thriving though.

Oops I got my lens shroud in that one, you can see the dark corners.

Oh look at the time O.o
I need to Get some food and go into work for a couple hours so it's time for me to go.
See you all next time ;)

Thanks @old-guy-photos. I was shooting in afternoon full sun and it makes the flowers almost glow with color but a lot of the images get pretty blown up in the full sun like that. I ended up darkening and reducing the color saturation on the poppies to get the detail back.

Look at those columbines! That is such a tease! I can say nothing but wow! at the sight of those poppies. The orange poppies are what I remember best about Northern California~ Fields and fields of them!

That is a wonderful shot of the garden. Don't you live close to there? I remember you had a premium location close to Sequoia. The garden has a lot of loving care put into it and the pops of color just feed my soul.

By the way, I have never (and I mean never) seen the creamy pale beauty that you showed me! Holy Moly! They are so elegant looking. I have purple and orange, with a few red ones, but, the light ones? Brilliant.

This is such a beautiful post, I truly thank you for sharing the beauty. Have a Super Sunday!!

May there always be a flower to color your world. #alwaysaflower

Hello @dswigle Glad you enjoyed the images.
Those bright orange Poppies are everywhere in California. You see them in almost every flowerbed up here as well as growing wild everywhere else. It's also California's State Flower.
My mother's house is next door to this Park, it was my back yard for years =)
Actually if you jump the fence in the back yard your in this park. The zoo and garden are up about 3 blocks up from there. Her house is about 50 feet away from the fountain pictured in last Monday's Monochrome post.
Also the Columbines are posting today, I just need to edit them and turn them into jpegs.
I'll get some more shots of the pale poppies for you as well. =)

Thank you!! I thought it was in your backyard at some point. I remember from a post a while back.

Poppies are the most beautiful flower! Of course, so are Columbine. You have such delightful posts on flowers!!

Thanks always!
