The Man From Earth is a 2007 science fiction drama film written and directed by Richard Schenkman. The film follows the story of John Oldman, a man who claims to be a 14,000-year-old Cro-Magnon. The film stars David Lee Smith as John Oldman, Tony Todd as Professor Ronald Iverson, and John Billingsley as Harry.

It is truly a thought-provoking and captivating film that explores the concept of immortality and the implications of living for thousands of years. At the very first place it sounded so weird even within my mind. How! What was that type of expression. Though this film is a masterful blend of science fiction and drama, I must say it is a testament to the skill of Richard Schenkman as a filmmaker.

The film begins with John Oldman, a professor of anthropology, who is about to move away from his colleagues and friends. A pretty normal or you say traditional starting for a story. However, at times we get to know about a bombastic point about him. Immediately the film drew my super attention. He reveals to them that he is actually a 14,000-year-old Cro-Magnon, and that he must move on every ten years to avoid detection. His colleagues are skeptical at first, but as the film progresses, they come to accept his story and even help him in his quest to remain undetected.

There are some books which we call un-putdown books; meaning that you can't put the book before you finish it. I've found similar with this film. Surely you will watch this film entirely to find out what's going to happen next. However, the film is shot in a very naturalistic style, with a lot of handheld camera work and long takes. You can truly connect yourself with the characters and their emotions. The lighting is also very effective, with a lot of natural light used to create a sense of realism.

The dialogue is natural and believable, and the characters are well-developed and interesting. The pacing of the film is also excellent, with the story unfolding at a steady pace that keeps the audience engaged.

I must say that if you are planing to watch a film and enjoy your moment; give it a try. It will not disappoint you. I hadn't watched films for a couple of weeks. But this film today made my day. And it’s so far been amazing to write about it.

Simply, The Man From Earth is a thought-provoking and captivating film that has the potential to make you explore your mind and thoughts ever beyond. The film is a masterful blend of science fiction and drama.

Enjoy!
