Pork Tonkatsu Recipe
Greetings, fellow foodie!
I'm here once more with a new recipe.
We had this for lunch today, and I want to post it as soon as I can so it doesn't get added to the backlog of pictures that need to be uploaded to my gallery.
Whenever we go out, my kids' favorite dish to order in addition to fried chicken is Pork Tonkatsu. The kids love it because it is simply a deep-fried port cutlet with good lean meat and crunchy skin. This dish is served with white rice, dipping sauce, and vegetables on the side.
The ingredients are so simple, and there are a lot of recipes for tonkatsu online too. Here's how I make mine.
Ingredients:
- 800 grams pork loin or porkchop
- salt
- pepper
for wet mixture: - 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- salt
- spanish paprika
- white ground pepper
- garlic powder
- 3/4 cup cold water
- bread crumbs
Tonkatsu sauce: - 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- sesame seeds
- oil for frying
Instructions:
1. Tenderize and season the meat.
I remove the pork skin and trim the fat to prevent the pork from curling during frying.
Pound the meat to flatten. I used a meat mallet, but you can use the back side of the knife if you don't have a mallet.
Season the meat with salt and pepper and set it aside.
2. Prepare the wet mixture.
In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, a pinch of salt, Spanish paprika, white ground pepper, and garlic powder.
Add the cold water. The batter has a thick consistency, and the cold water will help the tonkatsu be more crispy.
3. Dip the meat in the wet mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs.
4. Frying time.
Lay the meat gently and flatly in a deep frying pan with heated oil.
Turn the meat once or twice, until golden brown.
5. Mixing the Tonkatsu sauce.
In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame seeds.
6. Plating Time
Slice the fried pork into pieces.
Gently transfer it in a plate with rice.
Drizzle the sauce on top of the fried meat.
Serve and enjoy!
This recipe is so easy to prepare. I was able to finish cooking in less than 30 minutes, just in time for our lunch.
Have you made this dish before or do you have a special recipe? If you leave a suggestion in the comments, I'll be happy to try it the next time in a new method or with a twist!
I hope you enjoy this recipe and see you on my next one!

This may sounds weird sis @cindee08 but I want to try this on fish. But because it's soft I don't need to pound. With a excessive amount of we can have a lot of experiments.
You can try it with fish fillet; the sauce is great with any kind of crunchy fried meat.
