An influential group has convinced the government to make coffee illegal.

I know that originally this is a fiction, but coffee was actually already banned multiple times in the history. For example in 1511 in Mecca, in Istambul in 1633, in Sweden five times between 1756 and 1823. Charles II in England also tried to ban coffee in 1675, but the outrage was so hard that he cancelled the measure.
