The token situation for Splinterlands (Part 1)

Splinterlands is perhaps one of the most well-known games on Hive, and it's also a prominent GameFi project. From my personal observation, Splinterlands stands out as a star project on Hive, without a doubt. It seemed to be most promising when the price of $Hive was at its highest, which was during 2021 and 2022. When searching for the top GameFi projects online during that time, Splinterlands consistently ranked in the top three. It attracted many players into the Hive ecosystem, including myself. What attracted me the most was the ability to earn lunch money by simply playing a few games. Back then, the rewards in the game, like $DEC, $SPS, or card prices, were genuinely significant.

However, good times don't last forever. The world is filled with countless games, and the prices of $DEC, $SPS, and cards plummeted rapidly. I remember seeing a Splinterlands player's gaming assets reach $2 million, and now they've shrunk to $20,000. Many players who were drawn into the Hive ecosystem came solely to make money, and if they couldn't make a profit, they quickly left. As I write this article, $DEC is priced at $0.00072, and $SPS is at $0.014, both continuing to decline, leaving those still on Splinterlands disappointed to the point of despair.

The Splinterlands team has made various efforts, but due to the overall unfavorable environment, such as the loss of novelty or excessive competition, it doesn't seem like many new players are entering the game. Unlike Splinterlands, there haven't been other star projects on Hive in the realm of gaming. So, as long as the price of $Hive doesn't crash, I consider that a positive outcome. Like most Splinterlands players, I'm now just playing the game for fun and waiting for Splinterlands to regain its former glory.
