Hello, my fellow brethren. I'm glad for listening to the messages from bro Eli on the mass indoctrination service held on the 7th of December 2023. It's my pleasure to reflect on what was learnt. May God bless us as we follow God's instructions and commandments

Bro Eli talked about repetition of prayers. Some people would pray to God as If it would take him ages to hear our supplications. God is not deaf that he can not hear us when we are brief, and ask him for what we need in our prayers. When we pray, we should ask him for what we need. Beating about the bush in our prayers doesn't please God

Matthew 6:7-8 says "When ye pray, do not use vain repetition as the heathen do for they think they shall be heared for their much speaking. 8. Be not therefore like unto them: For your father knoweth what things, ye have need of, before ye ask him

Our obligation is to pray, and we must do it according to the scripture for it to be answered. Some pray as if they are telling stories. They recite the same thing over and over again, which is not acceptable, because we were made to know that we should not make vain repetition when praying

When should we pray

It's our obligation to pray without ceasing according to the word of God in 1 thessalonian 5:17. We should maintain a line of communication with God. We should not only pray to God when we have problems, or when there's difficulties. We ought to pray always. We should appreciate God by praying when we wake up in the morning. He has kept us overnight meanwhile he deserves to be adored. And also, we commit the days activities to his hands to see us through, provide our daily bread, and secure us from evil that fly by day

In the night, we should thank him for taking us through the day. There's no time we are grateful to God for his guidance, protection and provision, that he wouldn't acknowledge us if we are sincere to him. We are obliged to speak to God in actual dedicated prayer. Therefore, when the Bible commands us to pray without ceasing, it's all about praying day and night daily. We can find that in 2 Timothy1:3 which says

I thank God whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience that without ceasing, I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day

When we pray day and night genuinely. We've committed our entire life into God's hands

Is our prayers answered? How are we sure?

Many times when we pray, we do it with the mind that God must answer. Many that pray in vain might not know that they are only disturbing themselves because they do not know the kind of prayer that God answers. We can only be sure that our prayer is answered, when we pretty know that our heart is pure and not of evil according to Matthew 15;19-20 which, says

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.”

God doesn't not listen to the prayers of sinners. Husband must honor his wife and the wife must also be faithful to her husband if they both want their prayers to be acknowledged by God. If they don't, they've not hacken to the word of God, and God don't hear sinners. John 9:31 stressed on that

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

God only hears the prayers of those that do his will. When such people call on his name, he answers. 2 Chronicles 7:14 talks about us humbling ourselves, leaving our sins, and calling on his name. He said he would hear us from heaven and forgive us our sins. John 17:17-19 also talks about sanctification, and the truth

There's no way one's heart can be evil, and yet the mouth speaks good things. Whatever comes out of the mouth of a person with an evil heart is evil. And a person with a good heart speaks good things. Luke 6:45 shed light on it

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh

So the Bible encouraged us to always work toward speaking good things and not evil, because the tongue speaks from what the heart brings forth as it's capable to destroy, and at the same time, build. James 3:6-10 liken the tongue to a fire that can burn down a forest with just a little spark. Therefore, we must open our mouths with wisdom when we speak. We should say the truth, and not be deceitful. When we do all these, God will not forsake us, when we call upon him in prayer. Hebrew 13:5 says

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

God will never forsake us if we follow his commandments. He will hear us, and also, whatever we ask in his name. Listening to the word of God has always helped my life. May his words continue to make our ways pure and make our faith tap in root
