Movie review (AN AMERICAN FICTION MOVIE) "IN TIME"

I love watching movies but I'm a kinda person that selects movies. If the beginning of a movie doesn't make sense to me, I won't continue, except if I've been briefed or I find the trailer captivating. What brought about me watching "In time " was an argument I had with a friend. I was trying to explain the possibility of having an app that can enable people to share battery life. He explained the impossibility of my idea by bringing many facts. I told him we have mad technologies, and besides, to create something unique, you need to think outside the box. Sure, I've never come across any app that can do that, but nothing is impossible
A man delved into the conversation and asked if we'd watched the movie "On time". He supported what I said. Smart people don't think like common people. They thrive to accomplish what people would call crazy and that's what makes a difference
"They don't have time. They don't have time to worry about how it happened. It is what it is"
In time was a 2011 movie produced by Andrew Niccoli, Marc Abraham, and Eric Newman. It's an American Science fiction movie that would make you believe in the power of creation. A genetic engineer was able to control the world by stopping aging at 25 years. Once anyone is 25, they stop aging and remain the same till they die. But there was a problem. Once you are 25, you have a year to live so to live extra years you need to get more time
Time is their everything. It's their currency. The time can be transferred by holding someone's arm and it is also stored in a time capsule. So it's easy to buy things in the stores with time and also pay workers. The more time you get, the more time you have to live. So you need to work to get more time. The time is embedded on their arm and it keeps ticking. When you time out, you die. So what do you expect? Everyone at 25 is saddled with the responsibility of getting more time to stay alive
In the town of Dayton (The poorest of all towns) everyone is always busy trying to get more time to survive because most of them rarely have time that could take them for a day. Will Sallas lives with his 50 years old mother always struggling to survive daily. Living another 25 years in Dayton means you are a workaholic because you would have little time to rest
On Will Sallas's mum's birthday, she was out as usual to work and Will (a factory worker) also went to the factory to work for more time. On his way back, he rescued a man with time reading more than a decade in his arm from a time rubbing thugs
Henry Hamilton (the guy he rescued) has lived for 105 years, and he was tired of living, so he decided to give up his time and die. While Will Sallas was sleeping, he transferred all his time to him and left only 5 minutes. He fell from the bridge when the 5 minutes time out and died
Now, Will Sallas was having a decade. But before Henry Hamilton did what he did, he told Will about how the rich folks in the other time zone called Greenwich are manipulating time by increasing the standard of living for the poor to die every day. It doesn't get to them because they have the time to live and become immortal
The sudden increase in bus fare made Will's mum stranded and had to jug home on her 50th birthday but died on his son's arm before he could transfer time to her. This made him angry. Having a decade on him, he decided to see what was happening in the richest time zone and crossed to Greenwich. While checking around, he met Weiss (A time loaning businessman) in a casino and won more time for himself in a poker gamble
That's what the rich folks believe but such is not the case in their zone. They have every time they need to live forever. Only the poor need to be fit to survive
Looking at the world of our own, it's almost the same way. The government makes policies that affect the citizens but live outside of it
Weiss invited will to a party in his villa where he met Weiss daughter and they became friends.The time keeper investigated the death of Henry Hamilton believing he was rubbed of his time and killed and this was linked to Will Sallas
Will Sillas was arrested by the time keeper and confiscated all his time leaving him with only two hours. He escaped the scene, abducted Weiss's daughter (They were already in love), and asked for 1000 years as ransom
Weiss's daughter witnessed the kind of life people are living in Dayton and was unhappy with the way the poor are treated, so he joined Will Sallas in his quest
Will's aim was to cripple the time system and when they refused to yield to his offer of 1000 years, they (will and Weiss's daughter) rubbed Weiss's time bank and distributed the time capsule to many people living in the ghetto to add to their time
They were both hunted by the time keeper. They ended up rubbing Weiss vault and took his 1 million years time capsule and distributed it to the people of Dayton. Now, they all have many years. They quit their jobs and started crossing to other zones
Devising a way to make people become immortal is an advancement in evolution and if you ask me, I will tell you no one wants to die. But still, we are designed to die one day
I think it would have been fair enough if some folks are not there controlling the mortality rate by intentionally increasing the standard of living when no one expects it. Everyone in the time zone world believes they can live as many years as possible if they stay out of trouble and keep to time but the controllers of time made things difficult so a few could stay immortal
We've heard a series of news about population reduction. The reason for covid-19 till today isn't clear to many. Those at the helm of affairs control the world using all means. I think that was what happened in the movie
Will Weiss happens to be the lead character in the movie. He was the reason behind the people crossing from one zone to another. Without him, they would remain in the ghetto working day and night to get a little time that won't sustain them as they desired
The time keeper (57 years old Raymond) was the antagonist in the movie. He knew Will Sallas got the time as a gift from Hamilton that committed suicide, but because the system forbids anyone crossing from Dayton to Greenwich, he intentionally confiscated his time to 2 hours so he could timeout and tried to kill him when he rubbed the Weiss bank and vault
If you like fictional movies or you are a fan of Justin Timberlake, you need to see this movie. Living in a future where time is their money was a critical moment for everyone living in Dayton
On time was a movie coined from the present situation and probably what the future might hold for everyone. Most sci-fi movies tapped into what is presently happening in in our world and In time is not an exception. We live in an era where time is very important but we are found wasting it and yet never find a way to deal with it. What happened in the movie has many resonances with what we face today. Just as Jacob Needleman said, he said
Time is stranger and deeper than anything else in our lives
Get to see the movie in time and know how prsious the time we waste is. I enjoyed the movie and I believe I should rate it 8/10

I really liked this movie, usually a fan of sci-fi and the plot and idea behind it was amazing.
Seriously, it was the idea behind it that made me love it. The storyline is similar to the 1987 movie "The price of life". I enjoy films of that caliber. Thanks a lot.
