Shorts. Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity.

When someone far from us die, we either say may his soul rest in peace or Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (إِنَّا ِلِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ). We never feel it much. But when someone close or dare to us breathe the last breath, it hit us deep to the bone marrow

My dad told me never to drive his car. The only thing I'm allowed to do is wash, fill the radiator, gauge the oil, check the brake oil, and put things in order. You will drive when you buy your own car says, daddy. I don't know why he made that statement, and till today, I can't figure it out

It continued that way. My friends would visit me in their dad's car. Common carry your dad's car and let's go out. I would always tell them no. Let's use yours. Years passed and he never changed his mind. But I like one thing about him. He believed no one would go with a pin. When you are dead, you are gone forever. Dad would say; Eat well, observe your daily prayers, give to the needy, and have a good heart. And I would end it with, "And allow your son to drive your car". He would look at me and say get out. Smiles

But death will never come knocking. He opens the door at his will no matter how hard you lock it. He's so arrogant that he never gives you the chance to say a word when he comes. He's so heartless that he never gives you the chance to tell your loved ones goodbye. Death is wicked, but that's what made everyone equal

Dad couldn't tell me not to drive his car when he breathed his last. I stayed at the front of his house looking at his cars as they were carrying him to the grave. Tears flow from my little eyes. It took me time before I could drive his car

Today marks 2 years and 4 months since his demise. May his soul continue to rest in peace. Life will remain vanity. Let's keep remembering that as we live day by day
