Maintenance Session for Our Equipment

English

Not everything is about training like crazy in the Shimazu Clan; sometimes it's time to do proper maintenance on our training equipment, whether it's dumbbells, weight plates, parallettes, or gymnastic rings.

Greetings to everyone! These photos were taken a few months ago when I went to the stadium where we usually train. With the help of my great friend @luisduran-sw, we set out to sand and paint the weight plates for the dumbbells we use in the park. It's not just about applying paint; it was necessary to sand the plates thoroughly to remove all the rust. For those who don't know, the members of the clan live in a port city where the salinity in the air eats through even plastic. Because of this, we scraped off the rust from the plates and applied a coat of anti-corrosive primer—a thick paint layer that adheres to the metal and prevents rapid wear. Once that thick primer dried, we applied a couple of coats of spray paint. However, applying just the primer is a lengthy task that takes time.

These dumbbells and equipment are used by the city's community members who come to train at the park, so we are more than happy to help local residents have access to quality workout gear. Although maintenance supplies can be somewhat expensive, we rely on whatever support we can get to purchase them, ranging from small individual contributions to rewards raised from Hive posts on our account.

Although these photos are a bit old, we currently need to perform another maintenance round on all the implements we use for training. I hope to head to the park soon with the guys from the clan so we can fix up the dumbbells, plates, and parallettes that both we and the community rely on so much.

Why not use stainless steel?

(Edited)

It sounds like a nice option but it's extremely expensive, and in the end it would weigh the exact same regardless of the type of steel. With regular maintenance it will fulfill its purpose and we may invest in other equipment or things that are necessary for the community athletes. Anyway, we live in a port city and the air destroys even the stainless steel...
