Visiting a Spanish colonial era watch tower here at Punta Cruz, Maribojoc,Bohol Philippines ❤️
Hello my fellow hivers,friends, and followers ,Happy friday our should I say Happy FLYday.😄 i hope your all doing fine and well , May you all have a wonderful day ahead, Its me again @clarabels its been a while and the last time i posted here is the famous man made forest in Bohol. and this time I'm so excited to share with you all my fellow hivers this spanish colonial era watch tower here at punta cruz maribojoc bohol.
today my husband and I decided to visit my husbands side which is my inlaws in barangay punta cruz so that they could bond together with our precious baby girl. Upon arriving, my husband takes me to look around in Puntacruz watch tower since Puntacruz watch tower and my inlaws house is just a walking distance when we arrive at the tower I was amazed by the scenery, and the ambiance of the place especially the Spanish era watch tower and at the back of the tower you can see a big cross and a calm ocean.
This spanish colonial era watch tower was build during 1796 by the spanish agustinian recollects and it said to be used a defensive look out to protect settlements againts marauding moro pirates, during the past years the guest are permitted to go and look around inside the tower but sad to say in the year 2013 a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Bohol this is the only perfect isosceles triangle shaped watchtower here in the country and because of that no one is allowed to enter the watch tower because it is considered unsafe for people to go inside.
This large cross were washed ashore to the sea of Puntacruz a long time ago and many residents believed that this big cross is miraculous.
When you go down to the tower you can see the beauty of the sea , back then the sea would almost touch the stairs heading to the tower but an earthquake caused the water to recede away from the tower. and today as you can see in the picture there are plants growing by the seaside that turns red when exposed to the sun and it will turns green when exposed to rain or when wet.
While I was looking around I noticed there are posted monuments beside the watch tower displaying its history. you can see my husband and my child playing hide and seek in the monument😃
I'm happy and satisfied that I visited this place because not only did I get to explore it, but I also learned about the history associated with it. And that's it for today my fellow Hivers, Thankyou so much for reading my blog 😊 this means a lot to me ❤️ see you on my next blog.🙂

I really enjoyed reading this! I've visited Bohol a few times already, but surprisingly I never got the chance to visit Punta Cruz Watch Tower. After seeing your photos and reading a bit about its history, I feel like I missed out. I especially like how you included the story behind the watchtower and the large cross, it made the place even more interesting. Hopefully, on my next trip to Bohol, I'll finally add this to my itinerary. Thanks for sharing this hidden gem! 😊🌊🏰

An interesting tower from the 18th century. It would be good to protect and restore it so that visitors could see it from the inside..
