Walk among the historic buildings of Rome

avatar

Rome is an incredible city, personally I have toured some European capitals, each fantastic and with unique characteristics, but walking around the city is like being in a huge open-air museum, every stretch of the street is a work of art. It is really very difficult to walk any street, be it a main street or an alley and not be amazed by the meticulous attention to every single side or corner of any building.

Each palace has its own history, built on average around the 12th and 13th centuries, inhabited by noble families whose heirs today continue to live and take care of them. In fact, constant maintenance is required during these centuries, and some buildings seem to have just been built, thanks to the recent structuring.

Traffic in the city is very intense, indeed chaotic, but it is normal in the Italian capital. Some of these buildings are owned by the government such as Montecitorio, the seat of the Italian Parliament, or Palazzo Chigi, the seat and residence of the President of the Republic. But not just buildings.

The city is full of many parks or green spaces, historic villas to visit or private ones. The Roman nobles considered it essential to have a large garden, well cared for and full of sculptures or marble decorations. Any green space the tourist visits, will find himself in large tree-lined gardens, the favorite half of many sports lovers where they spend hours in the green lung of the city, away from the smog and chaos of the city.

It's hard to get around the city not to be captivated and amazed by what surrounds me, I'm not used to seeing these impressive historic buildings and I can't stop photographing them, it will also look silly but it's like I want to take some pieces with me. There is always a good scent of spices in the air, thanks to the many fast food and oriental restaurants: there are many inhabitants from all over the world, which is why many similar businesses have also been born.

Time passes quickly when you are in Rome and above all you travel long distances without even realizing it. At first I followed an ideal route on the geographical map of the city but then I continually got lost in the many side streets where there are many artisan or niche shops, little advertised but where you can discover many excellent products.

It is difficult to describe the beauty of Roman architecture, a melting pot of different cultures, experiences, styles. But the beauty of art is beauty and even if they belong to different styles, the result can only be wonderful. A city that everyone should visit and appreciate for its wealth of art.
