A Fresh Start

After a month-long semestral break, we went back to university. This time we have a new set of professors, subjects, and classmates.

The university ambiance is still the same; the new and old building is still facing each other. The trees are still tall as electric posts, the landscape is green and well-maintained, and there are still students who always came by to study and reach their dreams.

I met my friends at the school bench. I am hesitant to go by myself since we have moved to another section. New classmates. New possible connections. New start. But before we decided to leave our former section, we bid farewell to them. Although we just stayed there for four months, we already formed good bonds and relationships. But due to personal agendas, sometimes we need to sacrifice those stuff in exchange for something good.

We feel like outcasts in our new section but I think this is pretty normal. You can't just talk and socialize like you knew each other for a long time. We're still adjusting, observing, and finding the perfect timing. Hopefully, with different group work that will be assigned to us, we will get to know each other.

Our class started at 1 pm. We met our first professor this semester. She introduced herself, what the topic will be all about, and our first activity to her. However later that day, she will find out that she's not assigned to our section. I guess there’s a sudden shifting.

We also met our professor on multimedia development, and so far he’s the only prof we met who used a lapel microphone and a projector. We are so grateful for that! Usually, we’re having difficulty hearing and seeing the lectures of other instructors. This subject will teach us about graphics and video editing.

I am excited about our web development professor. He’s one of the strict and most feared instructors in the IT department according to our seniors, and my ears are clapping when I heard that. During our last semester, the majority of our teachers are lax in our class and didn’t give any pressure or challenging tasks. For me, for someone to learn and have a deeper knowledge of a specific thing, he/she needs to allot of time and energy. A bit of pressure will force him/her to do that. Or maybe I am just thirsty for a competent instructor. Probably.

I am also looking forward to our professor in programming. According to him, we’re the only freshman he’s teaching, and he’s willing to adjust the difficulty of the lessons to make us more prepared for 2nd year. He also said that he will ensure that we know how to write and explain our codes not just how to understand them.

Commuting is a struggle! Although I am just 30 minutes away from my university, the worsening traffic condition in my place is making it longer. Now, that my last class ends at 6:30 pm, I have no choice but to keep up with the huge volume of commuters going home from their respective work and schools. It's what they called ‘rush hour’, the time when the traffic is heaviest. So far this is just the first week of our continuous face-to-face class and I am already exhausted for the rest of the week, lol. Just to share, last Wednesday I endured standing for more than 1 hour because there was no seat available. I went home with my legs aching. Ouch!

Fortunately, this coming week, we will be having our online class. Our university still conducts blended learning due to a lack of classrooms. I hope they will provide enough soon. But meanwhile, I still prefer this kind of setup since going out to university every day costs a lot of energy, time, and money. This also balances my personal time and academic life. Instead of spending my whole day at the university, I can allot my free time to go out with friends or simply do what I love like writing.

Probably with this kind of schedule, my 2 times a week publishing schedule will continue. Unless I get mentally exhausted or when things get tough.

If you've made it here, thank you so much for reading my blog. I always spend several hours just to complete a blog like this, which might seem like an exaggeration to others but trust me, it's not 😅. So, the thought of someone reading my blog already warms my heart (∩˃o˂∩)♡. Until the next blog, bye!

Why not go for a ride on a bike going back and forth to the school? 😉

Anyways, it's good to read an update from you and that you are focus in school. Way to go! I think blended classes are the future as well. The introverts would probably benefit this more.
