Howdy folks, hope y'all doing great ?

I'm back again with some interesting gists from the science and technology space. Most of the reports would be about our precious but mystifying brains, so sit back, relax and enjoy the ride

Yeeee-haw......🏇

Rampant groundwater pumping has changed the tilt of Earth’s axis

Water is one of the most important needs of living things, especially man. We need it for most of our activities and it appears to be almost everywhere on our planet. Some of us can get water at the comfort of our homes thanks to pumps, no need going around searching for water like in the ancient times. Well, as with everything else in our universe, the approach of using pumps to extract water from underground has consequences. It happens that it's affecting how our planet is rotating. 😳
Is that very bad for us ?
🤔 How were scientists able carry out such measurement ?

If you're curious to find out more, then keep.....advancing - if you were expecting "reading" to follow the "keep", then sorry. 😂

Could bamboo be the next source of renewable energy?

Most of the energies used by us for our modernized activities comes from secondary sources that aren't environmentally friendly, especially fossil fuels like petroleum. Another problem with fossil fuels is that they are not renewable, implying that one day we would run out of supply. Because of these problems, there is research into other kinds of possible sources that are renewable, environmentally friendly and cheap. This report seems to be suggesting that bamboos could be the next crude oil and there's more.....continue reading. I find this news very exciting because i have a lot of bamboo plants at my backyard, time to prepare myself for some potentially massive cash out, when the time comes. 😁

Sense of Self: The Brain Structure That Holds Key to “I”

Understanding consciousness also involves understanding other related concepts such as self-awareness or the sense of "I' or "me". It's mostly believed that our brain is the seat of our mind which happens to also house our mental/conscious experiences but the brain also does other stuffs that we are not conscious of, like controlling the activities of our internal organs. With these facts, it's logical to ask, what part(s) of the brain gives us this awareness of the self (I exist) and how ?
🤔
That's a very interesting question and a recent experiment which you can find in this report seems to hold the answer. The bigger question, can these findings help us know if animals have self-awareness ?

Decades-long bet on consciousness ends — and it’s philosopher 1, neuroscientist 0

Still on consciousness though, except that this involves a bet (placed not too long ago) between a scientist and a very famous philosopher which just recently got concluded.
Morally, betting/gambling is mostly seen as a bad thing, especially when overdone and you're on the losing end but it also has good sides which in this case is speeding up the scientific research on consciousness.
So, what was this gamble all about and who was the winner (the scientist or the famous philosopher) ?
If you wish to know more, then why don't you slide in here. Who says scientists don't/can't gamble. 😎

Flight of Fancy: Unraveling the Mysteries of Pigeon Dreams

And to wrap-up with our weekly report for today - still on the brain too, is an experiment that seems to be suggesting birds too can dream just like we do.
But come to think of it, what do they actually dream of ?......keep reading. I was wondering, do flies also dream ? - i have seen them sleep too. 🤔

It is here we conclude today's report, have a thought day and till i come your way again next week.

Thank you all once again for stopping by to read my jargons and also thank you @stemng, @lemouth and the @Steemstem team for your valuable supports.
