Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to celebrate a milestone of hitting 5,000 Leo Power staked on my account!

5k Leo Staked

Finally, I've achieved 5,000 Leo Power staked on my Leo account! This has been a long time coming for sure, one that I have been hoping but the good thing is it was one of my goals for the year, and I achieved it!

I have been enjoying the Leo platform for a while now, certainly in the last year, but one of the things that I did in the beginning was sell all of my stake. It was for good reason, because there was a decent amount of profit involved with doing that. I took those profits and reinvested them in my account in the form of Hive Power and some of it went to Splinterlands so I've definitely been able to take advantage of that early start I was offered.

Over the last year and a half though, one of the things that I really wanted to do was get back into the Leo ecosystem in a big way! I'm not one to have crazy post payouts, lots of liquid assets laying around and all that. I do well for sure, considering how it's gone over the years but one of the things I've made it a point to do was to get in on the Leo ecosystem now that I have a pretty good footing underneath myself. It really started during the bull run of 2021, where the price of Hive spiked to the ATH. I sold a bunch of Hive, bought some HBD and then waited for things to come back down. From there, I ended up buying a bunch of Leo so that I could reinvest that into the platform in a good way and it started from there.

Since then, I've been slowly adding to my Leo stake, creating it an individual account so that I can do proper curation of the asset and not spend my Hive Power voting on that as well as everything else. This separation has really done me a lot of good, because it allows me to keep growing and focusing on my regular account but do the Leo stuff on the side and slowly build that account up as well, both in terms of Leo and Hive Power.

With the end of 2023, one of the things I really wanted to do was to acheive 5,000 staked Leo Power in my account. It was going to be a long shot but I knew that it was a good goal! I don't remember what my original Leo stake was at the beginning of 2023 but it was something around 2,000 I would say. That meant I needed to power up, post and buy Leo to get myself up to 5,000! I was thankfully able to do it at the very last minute hahaha buying the extra 95 Leo I needed to get me over the top, to 5,000.

This has been a great milestone for sure! I know that I moved into a different ranking on the Leo side, perhaps I'm a "cub" now? I don't know exactly what it is but I will find that out over the next few days I'm sure. The good thing though, is that the more Leo I'm adding to my account, the more I'm able to distribute some pretty good Leo rewards to users and get back some healthier curation rewards in return! I keep my voting percentage at 45% per post, so that's good and a way to distribute some good tokens. With adding some additional Hive Power and crossing the 150 HP mark, I've now kicked into the automation I set up long ago. I think I'm following Task as a voting trail, so whatever he does, I do a percentage of. I think I'll be reducing my percentage of his votes, I think I'm at 100% of his votes, mine follow. I might reduce that down to 75% so that I can give my own votes out to folks and not spend all my voting power!

Let's keep building and enjoying the Leo platform though guys! It's such a unique and positive opportunity for us to get in on the development and innovation that's going on here on Hive. Leo is taking things in a different direction than the Hive side is, and I think that's great! The more diverse things that we are doing, the better for us all overall. The important thing for this is to be able to continue to add to our stake, and that then goes into governance and other things to help decentralize things further. Onward to 2024 to see what we can achieve!

Oh that’s nice! We’ve had a tiny bit of snow in November, but after that it was just rain and lots of it.

This week finally feels like winter.

We’re doing great actually. My son is now 3 years old and stopped sleeping during the day, which means he sleeps a lot better at night. So we all have been sleeping a lot better.

And my wife after years of recovering from burn out, can stand being in a room with lots of people talking at the same time if it’s not too long. So that’s a major victory and reason that we were able to join the family for Christmas dinner.

No other kid on the way and I don’t know if there will be. To have to care for a baby again is a lot of work 😅

Yeah this is the first bit of cold weather we’ve had consistently. Had some random 15 degree nights in F but nothing consistent. Some of the shallow ponds and stuff are finally slightly frozen now here which is nice, we need a good freeze!

Ah yeah I hear you man. It’s challenging for sure! My son stopped his daytime naps around 2 and didn’t really sleep through the night until 3.5 so those were tough lol. I get the need for some sanity, I wanted another but it wasn’t in the cards so we are enjoying what we’ve got now.

Good to hear that you guys were finally able to spend Christmas with family! That’s always nice, we need pleasant times of year like that to fight back the insanity!
