Today I had some fun with the wood burner that I bought a few weeks ago!

The wood burner has been one of my favorite things I've gotten in recent months. It's a pretty fun tool to use! I have lots of different things that I'd like to make, I just need to practice with it more!
One of the things I made here was something for my wife that I really enjoyed. I came upon this quote sometime earlier this year and it really moved me. So much that I really wanted to make it into something for her!
I used a pretty helpful technique that I learned of online. You take a design you want and flip it over and trace it with softer pencil. I guess #6 is a good one to use, though I don't have a clue what the differences are between them. I only know of #2 pencils from being a kid lol. I did this to all of the letters I needed to draw.
I measured them out so that I could give it a rough idea of where I wanted things to go. I tried my best to align them in a decent way.
I then took all of them and made it across the whole board, taping it down so it doesn't move. The last thing I wanted to have it is screw up because I didn't take the time to do it right lol
Nicely taped up! I lined them up across the top of the board with the top row of letters. The ones down below, I made a line across the exact middle of the board so that I could use it to line it up.
The final product! I think it came out pretty well. There are some parts that were a bit darker than I wanted but that's the nice part about using wood like this. You can incorporate the different parts of the wood in the piece.
I was glad to finally make my wife something homemade like this! I had made some things in the past but that was mostly at my parents house, when I had access to lots of tools and room lol. I was looking for making something specifically for her but didn't find anything I really liked until I found this little saying here.
What do you think? I like it but does it look cool? I'll find out in a few days (typing this days before posting of course) if she actually likes it hahaha.

I can imagine, I've seen wonderful things made with those. Never had one myself. Maybe one day if we have a garden again. Here, on this terrace, I feel so watched by the neighbors that I rarely sit there to do anything also because the sun is quite blocked from the rest of the building and I might as well sit inside to create things :)
Yeah I hear you on that, that's annoying. We have kind of a similar thing ourselves. Our building is full to the brim with people who don't mind their own business and look if you're doing something. Thankfully our deck is on the top in a corner so not many can see us but it's certainly annoying lol
Yeah, indeed it is! The last apartment we didn't even have our own balcony or anything, the only part where we could stand outside was the balcony at the front of the apartment, looking at the inner "garden" and on the left construction site (next to the bedroom) for 2 years non-stop. So horrible! And because we could only open windows there, imagine not only the sound all year (also when 35 degrees!) but the dust. The horror!
So when we moved here and got a huge terrace of 90m2, it was WOW we can actually sit outside and have a BBQ or something. But then spring and summer are here and you notice that half of the block is filled with smoking people on their balcony, all looking down on our huge terrace lol. Only this floor has these, the others above all have small balconies. So this is not the way to go either, but at least we can enjoy fresh air without being blown away by noise or dust, so that's something :)
Damn that sucks, forced in one area by crazy stuff but in the new one, forced by something not as powerful but equally annoying.
I can’t figure out why people still smoke, sorry if you’re a smoker I don’t know but I don’t know how people do it anymore. It’s expensive and guarantees you crazy health issues lol.
Is the area you have access to yours for your unit? You could put up a small tarp or something to cover and give you a little bit of privacy!
No I quit 2 years ago and now I feel the same, HOW did I ever do that, so expensive but most of all it stinks so badly as well. We had to wear masks here outside last year for a few months and it annoyed the shit out of me that I was forced to wear that thing while in front of me on every corner people that smoked were just taking that as a freepass to take it off. Forcing me to inhale that shit into my mask YUK!
We could but it would only solve a few corners as the building is high on top of that, it's not our apartment and we aim on leaving in summer the latest anyway. So he can go and figure that out himself :) there's a swing chair on the terrace that has closed top so when I want to sit there and not feel watched, I sit under that thing lol, giving me a little more privacy (so it feels)

My wife certainly enjoyed it, I haven’t made anything for her like this before and she knows I love to do these types of crafts so it was special for me in a few ways!
I can feel the love emitting already... You have so much love for her and am glad to know that you count her twice when counting your blessing and that would mean to me that she is the reason for all the blessings coming your way.

Thanks man, it was funny, it was some random package we got in the mail, it was in a plastic bag and these words were on the outside of the bag and I immediately liked them so knew I wanted t make something with them for my wife!
