End Of Summer Fishing

Hi fellow Hiveians,

Today I wanted to chat about a little bittersweet end, although temporary!

End Of Summer Fishing

One of the things that's always tricky to deal with is the end of a season. Granted it's guaranteed to happen in every place except for maybe the tropics but even there it's got seasons, rainy season and not-rainy season lol

This bittersweet one is the slow end of summer and the transition to autumn. Autumn is one of the best times of the year to live in New England that's for sure but one thing that's sad for me is the gradual decline in the amount of daylight that we get per day. With me working from home I get far better access than I ever did before to do some fishing but you can't beat time eventually!

The little man and I have had one hell of a great summer for fishing that's for sure! We've done a lot of exploration of the area and that's been great. We've driven over an hour to get to a fishing spot to have it end up sucking and moving onto another spot a little bit down the road. We've done that a bunch of times and we've had a lot of fun and I think we're lucky at how easy it is to get places around.

The funny part about it all too is that if we do end up moving like we are hoping to, once we find the right house of course, we will have to find new fishing spots! I think that might end up being a lot of fun because where we're moving to, it's got some of the best fishing around so that's going to be great. It will just be different to not be in the area that we are in and not having the opportunity to go to some of our new found favorites.

Each day we fish and as the time we are out there winds down, it's always bittersweet for me. I guess I'm just in a somber mood right now haha but thinking of the small things like less daylight and time passing very quickly makes me partially sad at times.

Other times though I am very happy and appreciative that I get to fish in places like this. I know some of the people who check out my posts are from all different parts of the world, some where they don't have these type of fish or places that don't even have lakes or rivers that people can fish in! I try to think of those things so that I can appreciate things in life more than I get upset by them. There are so many other things in the world that are difficult and far more difficult than anything I've experienced and I feel for those people who are in those situations. It is still possible though to take these small, relaxing evenings and get a little somber that the season is changing and we won't be able to do the things that we do in the summer.

The cool thing about it here though is there are also lots of other things around here to do. We will be doing a lot of hiking in the fall that's for sure. We did a lot last fall and early winter then transitioned over to snow shoeing so we have lots of activities that the little man and I do, but fishing is definitely our favorite!

I'm definitely excited to catch new fish like these! I can only imagine the new fish that we will catch next year and in the years to come. That helps get you out of a sour mood I think!

its sad that you are having less time to fish with your son. But be well prepared and get more times fishing on the next summer. : )

That is such a great view when you are out fishing. I forgot when was the last time I went out fishing in the river. a smaller one of course.

Any view of fishing is a good one I think! Lol. It's sad to have the fishing adventures winding down to a close for the year but at the same time it's good because the next thing we do in these times is go out for some nice hikes! Hiking season is a lot nicer in the fall when there are less bugs out and about lol

For us who have access to such places it's a bless, especially young ones. I worked around kids in the city and, man, it destroyed me to see some of them had zero experience outdoors. It's depressing really, these kids growing up behind a video game.

Oh absolutely! I’m lucky and glad that our son is the way he is, not into games and much prefers to be outside more than anything. It’s tiring for us since we don’t have his energy levels lol but so much better than lots of other kids!

Thanks! Yeah it's great to be able to do the fishing that we do so I'm glad for that, even though it's winding down to a close soon. The good thing about us though is we try to stay busy! The little man and I did a lot of really great hiking last year in the fall and early winter so I plan on partaking in that once again!

You are welcome @cmplxty 😊
That’s great, yes… keeping busy and doing those kind of activities… just perfect.
He will learn so much from it. Hiking, being in nature. And it’s fun above all hehehe 🤭
Enjoy it!
