Fishing in Waves

Hi fellow Outdoorsmen,

Today I tried to fish in the waves!

Fishing in Waves

I am an aspiring fisherman in many fronts, that's for sure. The key word there though is aspiring since I'm not very good at some of it. Ocean fishing is definitely one of the things that I try to do but fail at it quite well lol

We were on one of our normal weekend adventures recently when we happened to get to the beach at the perfect time: tide going out! This meant that we were going to get a chance to test out the fishing skills in the waves.

Thankfully I had lots of time to sit back and enjoy the scenery that I was presented with. There was a lot of really great looking waves, with the tide just starting to go out and the rock I was standing on being quite a ways out from the shore.

One of the really cool things about the New Hampshire and Maine coastlines is that they are absolutely loaded with rocks! It makes it quite dangerous for boaters that's for sure but it makes it great for those who are looking to hang out on the rocks and enjoy the waves and all that jazz. The water was pretty cold but that's been less of an issue for me as I've gotten more used to it in recent weeks. Getting back to my older ways thankfully! I used to be a fish in the water swimming in the ocean often lol

What's pretty difficult from a fishing perspective here, you may be able to make out, are the masses of seaweed everywhere! The stuff is like grass on a field in all honesty it's everywhere! I know it's good for all kinds of things but one thing that it's not good for is trying to do surf cast fishing lol. The line I am using isn't very strong and in honesty I think the line would break if I really got a fish on the pole but the seaweed! That stuff makes it a hell of a lot harder because the line gets caught in it even if my lure is nowhere nearby, the seaweed attacks my line lol

It was still a good time to stand there listening to the crash of the waves, getting some good scenery in and paying attention to the little man mucking around in the rocks behind me looking for treasures.

I mostly enjoyed the wicked cool crashing of the waves though! There were quite a few good ones and growing up, one of my favorite things to do was head to the ocean when there was a storm and it was high tide. That was some awesome wave watching that's for sure!

I think you need a drone to fly your bait out further past the seaweed and drop it out there for you! Good Luck, let's see those fish!

Hahah now that would be awesome! I've seen a guy use an RC boat and drop it off out past something. That would be amazing. I'm seriously lacking in my drone skills, although we do have a cheap one. I handled it pretty well for a bit! Just need to get one with a working camera!

The one I have is from Drone Sky Hook dot com. It works really well. either by connecting to light switch cable for drop, or just by spinning drone in a circle. This would be awesome for your fishing there!

Fishing is a lot of fun! It depends on what you do it for, I know people who do it for work retire and want nothing to do with it any longer lol.

Heh. I approve of the red graphics. I need to visit Maine and New Hampshire some day.

They are definitely one of my favorite places for different reasons. New Hampshire has the best mountains of the New England states that's for sure, you can spend years exploring them! Maine has some of the best lakes and fishing I've ever had, but even northern New Hampshire can compete with that. The coastline of both are so much fun and lots of beautiful scenery that's for sure!
